摘要： The present invention teaches a modular telephone jack "system" capable of voice and data applications, which may be relatively flush-mounted within a conventional electrical box or to a surface and which is characterized by the absence of conventional screw terminal technology. A lacing strain relief system facilitates connections in terminal clips which face forward and which are accessible from the front of the system for testing and repair through a snap-off face or cover plate, and facilitates relatively rapid installation and easy access for testing, troubleshooting and wiring. The system may be equipped with combinations of duplex modular jacks of similar outer configurations, such as four, six and eight-conductor versions. The system includes its own "universal" surface-mounting housing of box, where needed.

The housing is formed to include grooves which receive respective contacts for arraying the contacts at a predetermined spacing, which contacts are for connection to ends of conductors of respective covered wires in a multicore cable, bores which receive respective ones of the covered wires for arraying them at the predetermined spacing, an opening for receiving and holding the multicore cable, and a cavity formed between the opening and the plurality of grooves. The adapter, which is formed separately of the housing and received in the cavity, has a plurality of insertion holes for arraying respective ones of the covered wires at a spacing identical with the predetermined spacing of the contacts. The insertion holes and the bores are formed so as to lie in registration with each other when the adapter is inserted into the cavity.

摘要： A strain release clamp assembly consisting of a backshell component or female component member and a compression ring or male component member. The female component member is a generally cylindrical component having a plurality of radially directed bearing access ports therethrough for a screw-type adjusting member, a ball bearing, and an intermediate biasing means. The inside surface of the female member includes a concentric groove with an access channel to the outside surface for containing one side portion of a locking wire inserted through the access channel. The male member includes on the outside surface with a matching concentric groove for receiving the opposite side portion of the locking wire and includes a plurality of spaced apart ball bearing depressions. The female component member receives the male component member and is locked thereto by the locking wire. Unintentional relative rotation between the female component member and the male component is prevented by the ball bearings held in the depressions.
