摘要： Systems and techniques are disclosed for establishing inbound calls and outbound calls involving inmates and outside parties. One exemplary technique receives input identifying authorized sources who are authorized to initiate and conduct calls with an inmate and stores a list of the authorized sources. The list, for example, can include telephone numbers, VOIP caller identifiers, and/or call privileges associated with the sources. The technique receives an inbound call directed to the inmate and determines whether the source of the inbound call is authorized or not, for example, by comparing information about the source with information in the list of authorized sources and/or based on the call privileges. If the source is authorized, the call is permitted. If not the technique routes the call to a payment interface for the caller to provide payment information.

摘要： High speed serial links are used in many applications as they provide high throughput with limited number of signals and input/output pins. Normally, the high speed links are established once at power up and rarely taken down except for maintenance purposes. When the high speed serial links are used for battery operated devices, the power consumption of these links becomes an important issue. Dynamic high speed serial link establishment and shutdown techniques are used in such application to keep the power consumption low. Frequent link establishment and shutdown may cause occasional link establishment failures leading to latencies and even complete failure to communicate between two entities. A method and apparatus are disclosed that enable robust link establishment for more reliable operation and reduced latency.

摘要： A method and an apparatus are disclosed that improve how an incoming call is handled across multiple data-processing systems, without some of the disadvantages of the prior art. Specifically, in a telecommunications call when a called telephone number is not associated with a particular in-service terminal, an enhanced terminating system of the call refrains from transmitting ringback to the calling terminal until an appropriate event occurs, such as the receiving of an asynchronous response from the auxiliary data-processing system to which the call has been directed. Depending on the response received, the terminating system might refocus the call or provide other treatment to the call. In some embodiments of the present invention, the terminating system also transmits a feedback signal to the calling terminal to provide status to the calling party on the progress of the call attempt, wherein the feedback signal is different than the ringback signal.

摘要： A security system capable of safely performing home device state check or operation. In the security system, a mobile telephone module of a mobile telephone transmits M-series data (call signal) to home device modules provided in home devices such as a door lock and home electric appliances. In response to this call, the home device module returns a home device ID to the mobile telephone module. The mobile telephone module authenticates the home device module according to the home device ID and after authentication, returns a mobile telephone ID and state check or operation command to the home device module. The home device module authenticates the mobile telephone module according to the mobile telephone ID. When this mutual authentication is complete, the home device module performs the home device state check or operation according to the command and returns the result to the mobile telephone module. Thus, the state check or operation is performed after mutual authentication and it is possible to prevent an unauthorized access of a third person.
