    • An image reading apparatus that reads out an original document image synchronously with a frequency dispersion clock gained by modulating the frequency of a reference clock so as to be changed cyclically at a predetermined modulation period, comprising: a first signal generating section that generates a first signal which turns into assert state at a predetermined period; a second signal generating section that generates a second signal which turns into assert state at a period synchronous with the modulation period of the frequency dispersion clock; and a line scanning section that moves a scanning position on the original document image in an auxiliary scanning direction and scans the original document image in a main scanning direction perpendicular to the auxiliary scanning direction each time when both the first signal and the second signal turn to assert state and thereby reads the original document image and outputs an analog image signal.

    • A light scanning device deflects a plurality of light beams by a deflecting means performs divided scanning on a single scanning line on a photoconductor with the plurality of deflected light beams. When the scanning line is scanned, a detecting means detects a light beam passing through a predetermined position in front of a position where the light beam first strikes an image forming range on the photoconductor. An oscillating means oscillates a specified number of clocks in a time interval from when the light beam is detected by the detecting means until it is detected thereby again. An adjusting means makes adjustments so as to irradiate a plurality of light beams based on clocks oscillated by the oscillating means. In a time interval after the light beam is detected by the detecting means until it is detected thereby again, a plurality of light beams are irradiated based on the specified number of clocks. Therefore, even if unevenness occurs in the deflecting speed of the deflecting means, dots can be formed at the same intervals in scanning a plurality of scanning lines. Thus, it is possible to prevent discontinuous joints occurring in each of the images formed with a plurality of light beams.

    • A cost-effective optical device is used for converting a photo-image into electronic signals with high resolution. The optical device includes a plurality of focusing units for receiving a plurality of sections of the photo-image respectively, and generating a plurality of corresponding focused image sections wherein the focusing units are mounted in specific locations for focusing the plurality of sections of the photo-image through various light paths and at various distance, and the plurality of corresponding focused image sections are magnified with the same ratio, a photoelectric conversion unit for sequentially converting the plurality of corresponding focused image sections into the electronic signals, and a light-reflecting unit mounted between the plurality of focusing units and the photoelectric conversion unit for sequentially transmitting the plurality of corresponding focused image sections to the photoelectric conversion unit.
