摘要： A document reading device includes a conveyer for conveying a document sheet using a single drive source, a reader for reading an image of the document sheet being conveyed through a reading position, and a controller for stopping the conveyance by the conveyer if a read request for a first document sheet, which is being conveyed upstream of the reading position in a conveyance direction, has not received. The controller invalidates the image read from a second document sheet which is being conveyed downstream of the first document sheet if the trailing edge of the second document sheet has not passed through the reading position at a timing when the conveyance is stopped because of the read request having not been received, and validates the image read from the second document sheet if the trailing edge of the second document sheet has passed through the reading position.

摘要： A multi-function apparatus includes a body, an image reading unit, a document cover and a locking member. The image reading unit is movable between a closed position and an opened position. The document cover is movable between a closed position and an opened position. The locking member is movable to a first position and a second position and includes a first engagement portion and a second engagement portion. In response to a movement of the document cover to the opened position, the locking member moves to the first position and locks the image reading unit to the closed position. In response to a movement of the image reading unit to the opened position, the locking member moves to the second position and locks the document cover to the closed position.

摘要： An image reading apparatus includes an image reading unit, a mounting portion, and a cover member. The cover member includes a first restricting portion, a lock portion, and an operation portion. The operation portion operated from outside the main unit is displaceable in a direction in which the lock portion deforms from the locking shape into the releasing shape. The mounting portion includes a second restricting portion and a part. The second restricting portion restricts displacement of the operation portion in the cover member mounted on the mounting portion in the second orientation. The part has a second aperture opening into the lock portion in the cover member mounted on the mounting portion in the second orientation from outside the main unit. The second aperture is an opening for the insertion of a tool for deforming the lock portion from the locking shape into the releasing shape.

摘要： An image scanner includes a transparent plate, a scanning device, a driving device, a positioning member, a light absorbing portion and a white reference portion. The transparent plate has an original placing surface. The scanning device irradiates an original with light by means of a light source and scans reflected light from the original. The driving device reciprocates the scanning device along the transparent plate. The positioning member positions the original placed on the original placing surface of the transparent plate. The light absorbing portion, which is disposed on the original placing surface side of the positioning member and at substantially a central portion of the positioning member in moving directions of the scanning device, absorbs ambient light entering to the original placing surface side of the positioning member through the transparent plate. The white reference portion is provided to the original placing surface side of the positioning member.
