摘要： A modulated light source comprises a laser diode and a drive circuit coupled operatively to the laser diode. The laser diode is configured to lase upon passing an above-threshold current for an accumulation period. The drive circuit is configured to draw a priming current through the laser diode over a priming period, the priming current being insufficient to cause the laser diode to lase during the priming period, but sufficient to shorten the accumulation period. The drive circuit is further configured to draw the above-threshold current through the laser diode after the priming period, thereby triggering emission from the laser diode following a shortened accumulation period.

The surface acoustic waves may be generated on a substrate using a transducer. Surface acoustic waves of different frequencies can guide image light onto different optical elements at different physical positions. The optical elements may be configured to show objects in an image at different distances from a viewer.

摘要： A light flux diameter expanding element (a pupil expanding element) used in a retina scanning display device includes first to fourth diffraction gratings which are provided with grating patterns extending in a first direction, and fifth to eighth diffraction gratings which are provided with grating patterns extending in a second direction, and includes a half-wave plate between the first diffraction grating and the fifth diffraction grating. A first light flux of polarized light in which an electric field vector oscillates in the first direction enters the first diffraction grating. A second light flux of polarized light in which the electric field vector oscillates in the second direction enters the fifth diffraction grating due to the half-wave plate. Therefore, it is possible to expand a diameter of the incident first light flux in the first direction and the second direction and emit the result as the third light flux.

摘要： A projection system that can adjust color balance of incident light is provided. The projection system includes a light source, a spatial filter, an optical separator, a scrolling unit, a light valve, and a projecting lens unit. The spatial filter has a slit to adjust a divergent angle or etendue of light emitted from the light source. The optical separator separates light passing through the spatial filter according to color of incident light. The scrolling unit has one or more spiral lens discs, which are formed by spirally arranging cylindrical lens cells, rotate, and scroll color beams separated by the optical separator. The light valve processes light passing through the scrolling unit according to an image signal and forms an image. The projecting lens unit magnifies the image formed on the light valve and projects the magnified image onto a screen.

摘要： A laser scanning system for scanning an original color document with light of three different colors. In a first operative sequence, the output beam from a laser, which comprises light of a first color, is incident upon a rotating scanning member, the light therefrom being directed to a reflecting first portion of a luminescent screen, the light reflected from said first screen portion completely scanning the entire original document. In a second operative sequence, the laser light from said rotating scanning member is directed to a second portion of said luminescent screen having a material associated therewith which produces light of a second color in response to the incident laser light, the light produced by said second portion of said luminescent screen scanning the entire original document. In a third operative sequence, the laser light from said rotating scanning member is directed to a third portion of the luminescent screen having a material associated therewith which produces light of a third color in response to the incident laser light, the light produced by said third portion of said luminescent screen scanning the entire original document.The light reflected from the original document corresponding to the informational content thereof is detected and an electrical signal generated in response thereto, the electrical signal being utilized locally or transmitted to a remote modulated scanner to produce a color copy of the original document.In an alternate embodiment, the light produced by each screen portion is caused to scan, in sequence, an elemental area of the original document.
