    • A sequential actuator for a radio frequency switch includes a rotor designed to be rotated in a designated rotational direction of the actuator and a stator defining with the rotor when the stator is energized an active torque curve of the rotor having asymmetric positive and negative torque curve portions. Magnetic elements are distributed between the rotor and the stator and define a detent torque curve of the rotor. In some examples, when the stator is energized, the rotor undergoes a first rotation from a position of partial angular overlap of a first rotor magnetic element with a first stator electromagnet to a position of angular alignment of the first rotor magnetic element with the first stator electromagnet. Upon reaching this angular position, a second rotor magnetic element has a partial angular overlap with a second stator electromagnet and the rotor further undergoes a second rotation to another position of angular alignment of the second rotor magnetic element with the second stator electromagnet.

    • There is provided a bearingless step motor in which a rotating shaft can rotate while rising from a main body by a magnetic force without using a mechanical bearing. The bearingless step motor comprises a stator including stator cores having winding portions and a rotor including a rotating shaft and rotor cores. The rotor rotates by a magnetic interaction between the rotor cores and the stator cores. A first permanent magnet is mounted to the rotor and a second permanent magnet is mounted to the stator. The first permanent magnet and the second permanent magnet are arranged so that a repulsive force is generated between magnetic poles. There is little power consumption for raising the rotating shaft and a complicated system for controlling the rise of the rotating shaft is unnecessary. Thus, the motor can be manufactured with a light and compact structure.

    • An improved drum motor, preferably electronically commutated, features a unitary stationary central shaft (18) supporting a stationary inner stator (52), and an external rotor (49), including permanent magnets (54), secured to an inner surface of a generally cylindrical rotatable casing part (18). This permits variable speed operation while avoiding any need for an internal gear linkage. Safety is improved by making sealing plates (76, 78) at respective axial ends of the casing (14) stationary, and providing an annular peripheral seal (90) around each sealing plate. Respective rolling bearings (24, 44) near each end of the casing (14) facilitate rotation of the external rotor (49) relative to the stator (52), and a clamping arrangement (30) minimizes noise from the bearings.

    • A stator core having twelve stator poles, coils wound around the stator poles, and a hybrid type rotor are included. The stator poles inwardly and radially extended from an annular yoke portion. Each of the respective stator poles has inductors of the same number. The coils are connected so that a pair of the stator poles being substantially symmetric with respect to a point are excited in opposite polarities. The rotor is arranged with a predetermined air gap with respect to the inductors, the rotor has a pair of rotor cores each of which has rotor teeth facing to the inductors and a permanent magnet magnetized in the axial direction sandwiched therebetween. The angles between inductors at the corresponding positions of adjacent stator poles are defined by repeating three sets of angular distributions each of which includes three times of 29.1 degrees and one time of 32.7 degrees when a number of rotor teeth equals 100.

The area of the first and second external portions facing the outer circumference of the first and second coils, respectively, is equal to or smaller than three-quarters of the area of the outer circumference of the first and second coils, respectively. The motor also includes first and second internal portions excitable by current flowing through the first and second coils, respectively, to cause these portions to become first and second internal magnetic poles, respectively. The first and second internal portions face the internal circumference of the magnet on the one and the other sides of the magnet, respectively.

    • A torquer assembly is to exert torques about two mutually orthogonal axes on a platform which is mounted for universal movement about a central swivelling point. To this end, a stator having four pairs of pole pieces is provided. The pole pieces are angularly spaced by 90.degree. about an axis passing through the swivelling point. The pole pieces of each pair define an air gap therebetween. The air gap is limited by spherical surfaces. The spherical surfaces are curved about the swivelling point. Permanent magnets together with the pole pieces and magnetic return loops form magnetic circuits, a magnetic field being generated in the air gaps. An armature with four elongated, arcuate coils angularly offset with respect to each other by 90.degree. is connected with the platform. The coils have circumferentially extending turns. Each of these coils extends, with an arcuate coil section, into the air gap of a respective one of the pairs of pole pieces.
