摘要： The invention provides methods of identifying candidate psychiatric patients, or patients with movement disorder, for treatment with medication that acts at a D2 dopan-line receptor site or increases density of D2 dopamine receptors. The method comprises determining a patient's DRD2 genotype. Patients having the Taq1A (A1) allele (A1 + allelic status) are candidates for treatment with high dose, high binding antipsychotics and/or SSRIs that influence D2 receptor density. Patients lacking the Taq1A allele (A1- allelic status) are candidates for treatment with low dose, low binding atypical antipsychotics, and are not likely to respond well to these SSRIs.

The method also includes the steps of pretreating the catalyst mixture (56) using microwave irradiation and exposure to CH4, heating the catalyst mixture (56) and the methane gas (16) using microwave irradiation at a selected microwave power, directing the flow of methane gas (16) over the catalyst mixture (56), and controlling the microwave power to produce a product gas having a selected composition and the carbon nanotubes. For producing multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) only a flow of methane gas (16) into the reactor (12) is required. For producing single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), a combination of hydrogen gas (18) and methane gas into the reactor (12) is required.

摘要： An adult mammalian stem cell is provided which is pluripotent and non-teratogenic in immune deficient animals. The mammalian stem cell is obtainable by culturing olfactory epithelium in the presence of one or more of FGF2, FGF9, SCF, LIF, TGF- ß2 and BMP-4. The mammalian stem cell expresses low levels of Sox2 and Oct4 mRNA and higher levels of SP1 and ANP32A mRNA. The mammalian stem cell expresses one or more proteins such as OCT-3./4, SOX2, NANOG, KLF4, MVH, KIT, NESTIN and also selected CD antigens. The mammalian stem cell may be useful in compositions and methods for treating diseases or conditions responsive to cell-based therapies, including but not limited spinal repair, heart muscle regeneration, skin repair, bone-marrow transplantation and repair of neural degeneration. The mammalian stem cell and non-human mammals generated therefrom may be useful in drug screening, disease modelling and identifying cell differentiation pathways.

The method and therapeutic agents of the present invention are useful for treating a range of nervous system diseases, conditions and injuries including, inter alia, paralysis induced by physiological-, pathological- or trauma-induced injury to the brain or spinal cord.
