摘要： A card hopper (10) includes a control gate (28) that reliably allows cards (12) of varying thicknesses to be fed individually through an outlet opening (24) without adjustment. The hopper is configured to hold a stack of the cards. The control gate is positioned at the outlet opening and includes a flexible blade (30) that reduces a height of the outlet opening to less than a thickness of an end card of the stack, whereby the flexible blade flexes in response to the end card when driven through the outlet opening. Also disclosed is a card feeder assembly (14) that includes the above-described hopper.

摘要： Card singularization gate for use in an identification card printer includes a roller support (90), a guide roller (92), and a card stop (94). The roller support is positioned between a card feeder (28) and the card transport mechanism (26). The guide roller is supported by the roller support for rotationn about an axis (96) that is substantially parallel to a card feed plane (68) and transverse to a card path. The guide roller includes a card engaging side (98) adjacent the card feed plane where non-abrasive contact of: a first surface (82) of the lead card (56) is made during the card feed operation. The card stop is positioned adjacent a side (100) of the guide roller that is opposite the card engaging side. During card feed operations, the lead card is allowed passage to the card transport mechanism along the card engaging side of the guide roller while cards that are stacked upon the lead card are blocked by the card stop.

摘要： A credential substrate rotator (170) includes a substrate support (176), a substrate feeder (206) and a substrate sensor (240). The substrate support is configured to support a substrate (108) in a substrate support plane (178) and rotate about a central axis (184). The substrate sensor includes a substrate position indicator (such as pin trigger 264) that is aligned with the central axis and has first and second positions (244 and 246). The second position indicates a presence of a substrate in the predetermined location of the substrate support. Also disclosed, is a credential substrate processing module (100) that includes a credential substrate rotator (170), a first data encoder (300) and a module controller (162). The identification card printer includes a cartridge receiver 32 that is adapted to receive the card cartridge and a card transport mechanism 26. The card transport mechanism includes a pair of feed rollers, portions of which extend through the cartridge receiver and define the card transport plane.
