摘要： An interface for positive pressure respiratory therapy includes a mask assembly having a mask seal and a mask shell. The mask assembly is positioned lower than and exposes a bridge of the user's nose. The mask seal includes first and second portions on respective first and second sides of a nasal region that contact opposing sides of the user's nose. In some configurations, the first and second portions each include supports that help maintain a shape of the mask seal. A pair of covers can be supported relative to the mask assembly and adjacent a respective one of the first and second portions of the mask seal. The covers limit expansion of the first and second portions of the mask seal in response to pressurized air within the mask seal. The supports of the first and second portions can transfer load from the mask seal to the covers. An interface system can include multiple size mask seals, which can be designed with consideration of ethnic variations in nose size and/or shape.

In the exemplary embodiment, the cushion assembly is formed by the sealing member fitting over the support cushion assembly. The sealing member, in one embodiment, is made of silicone, for example, having a low durometer value (e.g., between 5-10 Shore 00). Furthermore, in one embodiment, the patient interface device also includes a faceplate that is placed over the cushion assembly and is made of a thermoform, such as a high density foam laminated between two pieces of fabric, such as polyester.

摘要： An interface device comprises a cushion and a shell coupled thereto which together define an interior space with the face of a user. The shell includes an inlet port structured to have a conduit carrying a flow of treatment gas to the interior space selectively coupled thereto and a first aperture structured to allow the passage of ambient air into the interior space. A first sealing member is operatively coupled to the shell and is positioned such that the first sealing member is movable between a first state in which the first sealing member substantially seals the first aperture, and a second state wherein the sealing member does not substantially seal the first aperture. The first sealing member moves between the first state and the second state responsive to breathing of the patient.

摘要： A mask apparatus for a respiratory treatment can permit delivery of breathable gas to a user. In one example, the mask may employ a frame and cushion to form a seal for both mouth and nose. The frame may be adapted for coupling with a respiratory treatment apparatus so as to permit communication of a pressurized gas from the respiratory treatment apparatus. The cushion, which may be foam, and a frame component may be made in an overmoulding process that moulds the frame onto a pre- formed foam cushion. Such a moulding process may form a mechanical and/or chemical bonding of the foam and mask frame component. The mask frame component may be a shell of plenum chamber, such as for both nose and mouth. Various features of the cushion may further promote sealing and comfort for the under the nose design.

摘要： A respiratory mask for providing positive pressure therapy and a bias-flow venting system configured to reduce discernable draft generated by exhausted air are disclosed herein. The respiratory mask has a ball jointed elbow, one or more detachable forehead pieces and a headgear with a spacer fabric region. The elbow is configured to be removable when oriented to a predetermined position. The forehead pieces are provided in one or more sizes. The spacer fabric region having two or more layers wherein the raw edges are turned to the inside of the layers. The seal having improved seal performance and accommodating a wider variety of facial geometries. The bias-flow system having a tube and exhaust holes radially aligned on a bead of the tube. The bias-flow system also having an annular component exhaust holes and a shroud having a plenum chamber around the exhaust holes.

This leads to problems in comfort and effectiveness. The present mask has a cross sectional profile and an opening shaped similar to an animal's muzzle. It has a flat top and a flat bottom, slightly wider than the top, and rounded sides. It also extends backwardly from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening, so as to comfortably cover the commissure of the animal's lips.
