161 METHOD AND TOOL FOR PRODUCING A T-STRINGER PCT/EP2008057608 2008-06-17 WO2009010357A3 2009-03-12 LENGSFELD HAUKE; LUEBBERING CHRISTIAN
The invention relates to a method and to a tool (1, 48) for producing a T-stringer, in particular in air travel and space travel. The method is characterised in that two intermediate strips (3, 4) are superimposed, sections (5, 6) of said intermediate strips (3, 4) being associated with a stringer base (60) that is to be formed, are separated from each other by means of separation films (7, 8) and the sections (14, 15) of the intermediate strips (14, 15) associated with a stringer rod (61) are brought into direct contact, in particular in a material fit. In a further method step, the sections (5, 6) of the intermediate strips (3, 4) associated with the stringer rod (61) that is to be formed are clamped in a clamping device (1). In another method step, the sections (5, 6) that are associated with the stinger base (60) that is to be formed, are folded in the counter direction (28, 29) by means of an unfolding pin (25) and pressed counter to the corresponding pressure surfaces (23, 24) of the clamping device (1) by means of a pressing cylinder (37), such that the sections (5, 6) are aligned exactly. Subsequently, only the folded intermediate strips (3, 4) are hardened in order to form the T-stringer that is to be produced. The invention method has an advantage over known methods for producing T-stringers in that a smaller number of steps are required in order to produce the T-stringer, and said steps could easy be automated.

171 SELF-CENTERING CEILING PANEL US13082159 2011-04-07 US20110252736A1 2011-10-20 David Bailey; Ko Kuperus; Richard Mayer
A panel for a drop ceiling is made of a semi-rigid but resilient material such as spring steel and includes corner clips adapted to cooperate with the inverted T-shaped stringers of a drop ceiling support system so that the panel is self-centering between opposing stringers and is spring biased into a clamped relationship with horizontal flanges of the inverted T-shape stringers to prevent the panel from moving up and down. The corner clips are also designed to transfer any horizontal compressive shear force in the mounting system to vertical edges of the panel so as not to undesirably bow the flat base of the panel.

The system has special application in the manufacture of aircraft wing covers (10 made of carbon fiber and the stringers (3) cured jointly with the wing cover during the polymerization in autoclave. The tool pieces (4) being used are defined by angular elements (5, 6) copying the geometry of the stringers (3). The shape of these stringers corresponds to the “T” section. The angular elements (5, 6) comprise, in their upper part, a pair of battlements (7) in order to be caught by part of the clamps (9) of a head (10) linked to a robot (11) of the spherical type with articulated arm with six axes. The angular elements (5, 6) are made of INVAR material and they are used to keep in position the stringers during the curing cycle in the autoclave.

The present invention relates to a stringer, particularly to a stiffening and structural longitudinal element for skin of aircraft airfoil surfaces, characterized in that it incorporates two separate and independent reinforcement areas, one in the foot and the other at the end of the web (head) of the stringer, where the reinforcement areas are obtained by a widening of the section of the stringer, the widening being formed by a localized stack of reinforcing plies of composite material which are embedded within the stringer. The invention also relates to the method of manufacture and is particularly applicable to stringers having an L-shaped or T-shaped section.

The present invention provides a composite, in particular in the field of aviation and aerospace, comprising an omega-stringer that comprises a comb portion, and a connecting member that is connected at one end to the comb portion of the omega-stringer and can be connected at its other end to a standard coupling member. The idea underlying the present invention consists in forming omega-stringers with a connection zone that, on the one hand, is coupled to the comb portion of the omega-stringer and therefore makes it possible to transfer comparatively high loads and, on the other hand, can be connected to a standard coupling member so as to utilize the advantages of standard coupling members of this type when connecting omega-stringers to other stringers, for example T-stringers or other omega-stringers.
