The invention relates to a method for assembling a cable drum flange constituted by a set of wooden sectors (2A) placed side by side to form a disk and a U-shaped rim (4). This method is characterized in that, to form the flange, it consists in: closing the rim (4), positioning the sectors one after the other so that the outer end is fitted into the channel of the rim, prior to inserting the last sector, exerting a force on the set of assembled sectors in the plane of the disk in order to compress the sectors and clear a free space with an angle greater than that of the sector to be inserted, then fitting the outer end of the last sector into the channel of the rim, followed by the inner end, and as soon as possible after the outer end of the last sector has been fitted, releasing the compression.

44 ANCHORING DEVICE FOR SECURING A CABLE WOUND ONTO A STORAGE REEL PL30586394 1994-11-16 PL175724B1 1999-02-26 STOCCHI VASCO
The device comprises at least one through hole (6) formed adjacent to a perimetric edge (4a) of one of the disc-shaped flanges (4) of a storage reel (2) carrying a cord (5) wound up on a core (3). The end portion (7) of the cord (5) slidably passes through the hole (6) and is fastened to the outer surface (4b) of the flange (4) by a clip (8) comprising a wire element (11) made of harmonic steel which is provided with terminal appendages (10) rotatably engaged to articulation seats (9a) defined in corresponding tabs (9) projecting externally of the flange (4). The wire element (11) is bent according to consecutively opposite portions (11a) so as to form a pair of retaining loops (12) acting on the cord end piece (7a) for holding it against the flange (4), as well as a counter-loop (13) acting against the flange (4) in order to generate an elastic reaction in the clip (8) thereby causing the end piece (7a) to be held fast by the retaining loops (12) themselves.

50 Improvements in and relating to machines for forming, boring and cutting out of boards, cylindrical pieces of wood for yarn reels and like purposes GB2220532 1932-08-08 GB396937A 1933-08-17
396,937. Cutting bobbins &c. from boards. MARCONCINI, A., 52, Rua Agostino Gomes Sao Paulo, Brazil. Aug. 8, 1932, No. 22205. [Class 83 (iii).] A machine for making bobbins from boards of thickness corresponding to the bobbin diameter has means for automatically forming, drilling and severing the bobbins and feeding the board so that it is progressively used up. A sweep cutter 27 with an adjustable boring bit 35, Fig. 3, constitutes the means for cutting the bobbins from the end of a board, and is reciprocated axially by a bent lever 30, rod 28 and pin 26 engaging a cam groove in a rotating disc 25, the cutter is rotated by belt means from a pulley 38 carried at the end of the main driving shaft underneath the machine ; a worm drive from this shaft rotates the cam disc 25 through the vertical shaft 8 when a clutch element 49 is in its upper position, Fig. 2. The board (not shown) is carried by rollers 15, 16, 18, the latter being vertically adjustable by a screw 23, which are mounted on a table 11 adapted to slide on guides 12. Subsequent to the bobbin forming and drilling operation a circular saw 44, mounted at the end of a rocker arm 45, Fig. 5, and driven by belt means from the main drive, is fed downwards to sever the bobbin by link gear 46,.47 and pin 48 also engaging the cam disc 25 but lagging the cutter controlling pin 26. The board is next fed sideways a distance equal to the bobbin pitch by a striker rotating at the top of the vertical shaft 8 engaging a rack 14 fixed to the table 11. When a complete transverse strip of the board has been used in the above manner the table is returned to the initial position by a stop 59 moving the lever 54 over to connect the clutch on the vertical shaft 8 so that the drum 50 winds the cable 58 and moves the table until another stop 60 disconnects the drive ; at the same time the serrated roller 16 is rotated a fixed amount through a ratchet device 63 controlled by a cable and weights and serves to move the board a longitudinal distance equal to the length of the bobbins, the cycle of operations is then repeated.

255,110. Schweizer, E. July 11, 1925, [Convention date]. Combined turning and drilling machines.- In a machine for operating on wooden rods to form spools the stock from which the spools are to be made is fed intermittently through a rotating hollow-spindle and is bored by an axial rotating drill and shaped and cut off by rotary cutters mounted on both sides of the work. The stock a, Fig. 1, is fed by means (not shown) against a stop b vertically movable by means of a cam c, the chuck being opened by a cam-operated lever 35. The periphery of the bobbin is turned by a rotary cutter 8 mounted on a compound slide-rest 7, 7. The slide 7 is fed transversely to the lathe axis by a cam 13 and during the advancing movement the slide 7 is traversed parallel to the axis by an inclined guide 9 so as to produce the taper x, Fig. 4. The slide 7 then remains stationary while the slide 7is traversed by a cam 1 and lever 12 to produce the parallel part y and finally both slides are moved by their cams to form the taper z and are then returned to their initial positions. A similar slide-rest is arranged on the opposite side of the lathe, the lower transverse slide being rigidly connected to the slide 7 and the upper longitudinal slide being controlled by a lever and a cam 17. The upper slide carries a spindle on which are two spaced rotary cutters which form the rims of the bobbin-heads during the return move:nent of the slide 7. During the operation of the cutters a rotating drill 20, fed axially by a lever 21 and cam 22, drills the bore of the bobbin in two stages. The bobbin is finally cut off by a rotary cutter 24 driven through a universally-jointed shaft 32 and belt 33 and carried by a lever 25 controlled by levers from a cam 30. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modified machine in which the drill 20, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), is fed axially into the stock a, preferably in three stages, whilst the rotary cutting-off tool is operating, the cams being so arrangec. that the drill recedes out of the path of the cutting-off tool but remains stationary to support the work as it is severed and until grippers 39, mounted on a cam-operated arm 38, remove it. The gr.ppers transfer the work to centres 40, 41, between which it is rotated whilst the shaping cutters 8 15, 16, similar to those previously described, operate to finish the bobbin. The centres are then separated and the finished bobbin is removed by a spring ejector. In further modifications the stock may be operated upon by a planing device before entering the hollowspindle, the cutters may be angularly adjustable on the upper slides 7b, the cutters may be adapted to different shapes and materials of the work, and articles such as cylinders, rolls, bobbins &c. may be made from wood or other material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
