    • A dynamic network configuration in a computer records and analyzes network transactions to permit dynamic configuration of network parameters when connecting the computer to a network. Upon initial connection of the computer to the network, user preferences and network parameters for other locations previously encountered are read or entered into memory of the computer. The dynamic network configuration gathers network traffic data by entering a learn or promiscuous mode to record a number of network transactions for a predetermined time period. The network traffic data is indexed for analysis to determine the participants. The current participants are compared with the existing participants for previously observed locations. If a match occurs, then the network parameters are utilized to configure a protocol stack.

    • A plunger moves from a retracted position to an extended position to engage a document which is on a receiving platform to push the document through an opening in the receiving platform and towards a stacking platform to stack the document on the stacking platform. The plunger moves from the extended position back to the retracted position to allow a biasing force which is acting on the stacking platform to press the document which has just been stacked on the stacking platform against the receiving platform. A supporting mechanism supports first and second plate members of the receiving platform for pivoting movement between a non-parallel position in which the plate members form a substantially wide V-shape to cup the document as the plunger pushes the document through the opening and onto the stacking platform, and a parallel position in which the plate members are substantially parallel to each other as the plunger moves back to the retracted position to allow the biasing force which is acting on the stacking platform to press the document which has just been stacked on the stacking platform against the receiving platform.

    • A digital wavetable audio synthesizer is described. A synthesizer volume generator, which has several modes of controlling the volume, adds envelope, right offset, left offset, and effects volume to the data. The data can be placed in one of sixteen fixed stereo pan positions, or left and right offsets can be programmed to place the data anywhere in the stereo field. The left and right offset values can also be programmed to control the overall volume. Zipper noise is prevented by controlling the volume increment. A synthesizer LFO generator can ad LFO variation to: (i) the wavetable data addressing rate, for creating a vibrato effect; and (ii) a voice's volume, for creating a tremolo effect. Generated data to be output from the synthesizer is stored in left and right accumulators. However, when creating delay-based effects, data is stored in one of several effects accumulators. This data is then written to a wavetable. The difference between the wavetable write and read addresses for this data provides a delay for echo and reverb effects. LFO variations added to the read address create a chorus and flange effects. The volume of the delay-based effects data can be attenuated to provide volume decay for an echo effect. After the delay-based effects processing, the data can be provided with left and right offset volume components which determine how much of the effect is heard and its stereo position. The data is then stored in the left and right accumulators.

    • A process for forming cement clinker using mill scale that may have hydrocarbons associated therewith. Normal feedstock material is preheated and then transferred to a combustion area. The mill scale is also transferred to the combustion area where, during the process of burning a material, the unwanted hydrocarbons are volatilized and converted to harmless gaseous products (by combustion) that can be passed to the atmosphere. The combustion area may be a precalciner or may be the feed end of the rotary kiln if the rotary kiln has an adequate temperature profile. The remaining mill scale and feedstock material are thoroughly mixed and blended and the mill scale is diffused and combined with the feedstock material as the mill scale and the feedstock material move from the feed end toward the heat-source end of the rotary kiln to form cement clinker.
