    • In a scroll-type compressor, the revolving motion drive shaft 16, formed on the revolving end plate 12 at the side opposite to the revolving swirl blades 11, is fitted in an eccentric bearing eccentrically disposed inside of the main shaft of the crank shaft 6. The crank shaft 6 is connected to the rotor of the electric motor and is supported at the end portion thereof opposite to the main shaft by an upper bearing of a rolling type. Above the upper bearing, a rise preventing plate 24 for preventing the crank shaft 6 from excessively rising upwards is arranged in a fixed manner. The crank shaft 6 is so shaped as to have a stepped portion where the diameter of the shaft portion mounting the rotor 5 becomes stepwise greater than that of the shaft portion fitted in the upper bearing 21. Between the stepped portion and the inner race of the upper bearing 21 is provided an elastic member 26 which can be wave shaped. Between the rise preventing plate 24 and the end portion of the crank shaft 6 opposite to the main shaft of the crank shaft 6 a narrow clearance is maintained. By applying an elastic force of the elastic member 26 on the inner race of the upper bearing in the axial direction, abnormal noises from the bearing caused by axial vibrations and resonances of the shaft system can be prevented.

    • The compression capacity of a rotary compressor may be changed by a cylinder bypass system. The change of compression capacity is achieved by a slide wall member which composes part of an inside wall of a cylinder containing a compression mechanism and which is movable, thereby bypassing gas being compressed to a suction side of the compressor. The slide wall member is caused to slide forward by gas pressure applied and to slide backward by a spring force. By controlling such gas pressure, the capacity of the compressor may be changed. A relatively large opening is formed in the cylinder when the slide wall member is moved backward, so that the compression capacity can be greatly reduced without a large decrease in efficiency.

    • An ink cartridge in which a space inside the ink cartridge is divided by a cylindrical bulkhead into two parts, a negative pressure generator chamber located inside the bulkhead and a liquid chamber located outside the bulkhead. The negative pressure generator chamber communicates with the atmosphere via an air intake port, communicates with an ink supply port, and contains a negative pressure generator. The liquid chamber contains liquid ink directly. The negative pressure generator chamber and the liquid chamber communicate with each other only via a communicating portion provided in the bulkhead. The entire peripheral surface of the lower portion of the negative pressure generator is in contact with the ink in the liquid chamber through the communicating portion continuously provided in the bulkhead.

    • A scroll-type compressor has a crankshaft connected to the rotor of an electric motor for causing an orbiting motion of an orbiting scroll member and having a main shaft formed at one end thereof and supported by a main bearing, an orbiting drive shaft formed on the side of an orbiting end plate opposite to an orbiting scroll wrap and received in an eccentric bearing disposed at an eccentricity in the main shaft, a rolling type upper bearing supporting the end of the crankshaft opposite to the main shaft, and a lift limiting plate fixed to the lower surface of the upper bearing to prevent excessive lift of the crankshaft. A step is formed on the crankshaft between a portion of a greater diameter at which the crankshaft is connected to the rotor, and a portion of a smaller diameter at which the crankshaft is received in the upper bearing. The compressor further has a support member resting on the inner race of the upper bearing and a fixing member by which the crankshaft is suspended and supported from the support member such that a small clearance is left between the surface of the step of the crankshaft and the lift limiting plate. This configuration suppresses the generation of noise in the upper bearing attributable to axial vibration and resonance of the shaft system.
