    • An industrial sewing machine having a main shaft which can be driven by an electric motor drive, a positioner disposed on the main shaft, a regulating and control system controlling the electric motor drive, an operating and display system, and an interface system producing the connection between the operating and display system on the one hand and the regulating and control system on the other. Such an industrial sewing machine is to be configured such that great freedom from electrical interference will be achieved in spite of the individual connection of additional unfiltered electrical components. For this purpose two lines are provided for each component for carrying signals back and forth among any number of connected components, and the output of each of the connected components has a driver stage with a system for inverting the signal that is to be transmitted, an inverted signal being transmitted over the one line and a non-inverted signal over the other, and the input of each of the connected components includes a difference detector to determine the difference between the two arriving signals.

    • An apparatus is provided for self-monitoring a communication circuit incorporating a differential driver for malfunctions with a malfunction detector located remote from the driver. The malfunction detector monitors the state of signals received at the remote location on a pair of lines coupled to the driver. Preferably, the detector includes a pair of back-to-back light emitting diodes, one of which will emit light so long as the received signals are in opposite states, and neither of which will emit light when the received signals are not in opposite states as will occur during a malfunction. The detector further preferably includes a phototransistor responsive to the diodes to provide a malfunction signal when neither diode emits light. Alternatively, the detector may comprise an exclusive-OR logic gate.

    • A system for monitoring a machine tool under automatic control is provided which uses the actual path of the tool in all directions of motion for comparison with a mathematically ideal path to detect tool error. Machine tool position is obtained from independent feedback devices on each axis of tool movement. The system monitors the machine control commands independently of a machine control command generating means, the machine control command generating means commonly bring a computer of a conventional type. Thus, a monitoring loop is placed about the entire machine tool, that loop being capable of detecting malfunction or mispositioning of the tool, as that tool operates under automatic control. An independent dynamic braking means enables the system of this invention to bring the machine to a stop without part scrappage in the event of a machine shut down, occurring for example, because of a power system failue, or mispositioning error detection.

    • PURPOSE:To detect abnormality definitely by checking whether the time from the rising of OR between signals from two symmetrically arranged sensors to the rising of AND and the time from the falling of AND to the falling of OR are within a specific range or not. CONSTITUTION:Output terminals of the sensors 3 and 3' which turn on and off almost at the same time are connected to the 1st logical circuit 10, the 2nd logical circuit 12, an inverting circuit 14, and the 4th logical circuit 16. The 1st logical circuit 10 is connected to the 3rd logical circuit 20 through the 1st pulse generator 18, the 2nd logical circuit 12 is connected to the 4th logical circuit 16 through the 2nd pulse generator 22, and the inverting circuit 14 is connected to the 3rd logical circuit 20. Signals S1 and S2 from the sensors 3 and 3' are ORed S120 by the 1st logical circuit 10 and ANDed S12A by the 2nd logical circuit 12. When the time t1 from the rising of the S120 to the rising of the S12A or the time t2 from the falling of the S12A to the falling of the S120 exceeds the specific range, the abnormality of on operation or off operation of either sensor is detected.

LA) übertragen wird, und daß der Eingang (17, 2o) jeder der n Komponenten jeweils eine Differenzbildungseinrichtung (27) zur Bildung der Differenz der beiden ankommenden Signale (LA bzw. LB) umfaßt.
