    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing PDP for preventing large-small particles of protective layer forming raw materials from mixing at the time of application and drying.SOLUTION: In this method of manufacturing a plasma display panel, a protective layer is formed on a front plate through processes including: (i) a process in which a first protective layer raw material containing first MgO particles and a first solvent and a second protective layer raw material containing second MgO particles and a second solvent are prepared; (ii) a process in which the first protective layer raw material and the second protective layer raw material are simultaneously applied to a dielectric layer formed on a base plate of a front plate and thereby a protective layer raw material layer having a two-layer structure of the first protective layer material layer and the second protective layer material layer is formed; and (iii) the protective layer raw material layer having a two-layer structure is dried; the particle size of the first MgO particles being smaller than that of the second MgO particles in the first and second protective layer raw materials prepared in the process (i), and the surface of the dielectric layer facing downward in the vertical direction when the first and second protective layer raw materials are simultaneously applied to that surface in the process (ii).

The adsorption layer has beads, the address electrode contains a glass component in 5 vol% to 40 vol%, and a temperature in the adsorption step is lower than a yield point of the address electrode.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP that operates at a high luminous efficiency and whose color reproduction capability is sufficient.SOLUTION: A sealing glass layer 40 is formed on the periphery of a surface opposed to a back panel plate 20. In a center part A in the lengthwise direction of the back panel plate 20, the height H1 of the sealing glass layer 40 is equal to or greater than the height of a partition 24 and is equal to or smaller than a value that is ten times larger than the height of the partition 24. A height H2 at both edges B in the lengthwise direction of the sealing glass layer 40 exceeds the height H1 and is equal to or smaller than the value that is ten times larger than the height H1. A front panel plate 10 and a back panel plate 20 are disposed to face each other and fixed by pressing by a clip so that an inner space is formed inside the sealing glass layer 40 and the partition 24 is sandwiched. In this state, sealing is performed by heating the sealing glass layer to a temperature equal to or higher than the softening temperature thereof.
