    • A miniature circuit breaker having a pair of operable contacts in a main current path between a line terminal and load terminal, a trip mechanism for opening the contacts if an overcurrent condition occurs, and an electric motor to close the contacts via a contact closing mechanism. The trip mechanism includes a trigger mechanism and a contact opening mechanism, a current sensor arranged to detect current through the main current path, and a control unit. The trigger mechanism triggers the contact opening mechanism if a trip signal is produced. The control unit produces a trip signal to operate the trigger mechanism if it determines a short circuit condition occurs based on output of the current sensor; and the control unit is arranged to operate the electric motor to trigger the contact opening mechanism into opening the contacts independently of the trigger mechanism if it determines that an overload condition occurs.

    • A system and method for resetting a tripped circuit breaker are provided. The system includes a monitoring mechanism for monitoring a state of at least one electrical circuit breaker and for generating at least one monitoring signal indicative of the state of the at least one electrical circuit breaker; an actuating mechanism for actuating the at least one electrical circuit breaker in a plurality of positions; and a controller for receiving the at least one monitoring signal and for generating and transmitting at least one control signal to the actuating mechanism for resetting the at least one circuit breaker. The breaker reset system is self-contained and dimensioned as an add-on component to previously installed circuit breaker enclosure or as an integrated component of a circuit breaker enclosure. Additionally, the system allows for manual over-ride of the reset function.

    • A circuit breaker device for interrupting current in a circuit path between a source and a load. The device includes a first contact and a second contact cooperatively arranged in the circuit path so as to provide current from the source to the load. At least one of the contacts is disposed on a contact carrier which is movable for interrupting the current provided to the load. A contact status indication arrangement is provided for indicating the status of the contacts. The contact status indication arrangement includes a trip flag, a status insert, a clear plastic lens, a flag guide, and a status flag. The trip flag, status insert and status flag are viewable through the lens, which is disposed in an aperture in the circuit breaker housing. Only one status indicator is viewable through the lens at any one time, each indicating a different circuit breaker status. For example, when the trip flag is visible, the circuit breaker is in the TRIPPED position; when the status insert is visible, the circuit breaker is in the OPEN position; and when the status flag is visible, the circuit breaker is in the CLOSED position. One end of the trip flag is coupled to a trip lever and the other end rides on the flag guide as the trip flag moves forward and back when the circuit breaker moves into the TRIPPED position and is then reset, respectively. The flag guide is a staple-shaped piece of wire disposed in the housing and provides a reliable guide on which the trip flag to travel and maintains separation between the trip flag and the statues flag.
