摘要： An apparatus for testing the necks of glass containers by physically impacting the neck of each container, on the side, at 90.degree. intervals therearound. Two embodiments are disclosed. In one, the containers are moved, in series, past four neck impacting devices and rotated between impacts. In the other embodiment, the containers move, in series, past four impacters that are so oriented and driven as to impact a non-rotatable container at 90.degree. intervals about the neck circumference.

The sheets to be tested are subjected to a differential pressure condition by establishing a vacuum on one side thereof and lowering the pressure on such side until the glass deflects to its breaking point. The apparatus is designed to permit selection of and testing of sheets substantially immediately after the capping operation.

摘要： A method of forming a continuous film of an elastomeric latex and a phenolic resin comprising spraying a plurality of coats of the aqueous admixture onto a nonadherent surface. The nonadherent surface is at a temperature of 120.degree. F. or greater and each coat of the aqueous admixture is less than about 0.7 mil dry film thickness. The film so formed can be tested for physical properties and the testing results are capable of being correlated with the performance of glass fibers with the aqueous admixture coated thereon for reinforcement of elastomeric matrices.

摘要： An apparatus for testing the internal pressure strength of glass bottles is described. The system utilizes water as a pressure test medium which is introduced into the test bottles and pressurized to predetermined pressure levels in stepped increments. Pressurization of the water is effected by a gas driven piston in the water supply line. A plurality of pressure control switches in the water supply line step the water pressure through said predetermined levels. A control circuit is provided for sequentially actuating said pressure switches for predetermined durations. Indicator means are provided on a control panel to indicate the test pressure level under which the test apparatus is operating at any given time, (i.e., guage), as well as the test pressure levels passed (i.e., lamps).

摘要： Methods of characterizing ion-exchanged chemically strengthened glass containing lithium are disclosed. The methods allow for performing quality control of the stress profile in chemically strengthened Li-containing glasses having a surface stress spike produced in a potassium-containing salt, especially in a salt having both potassium and sodium. The method allows the measurement of the surface compression and the depth of the spike, and its contribution to the center tension, as well as the compression at the bottom of the spike, and the total center tension and calculation of the stress at the knee where the spike and the deep region of the stress profile intersect. The measurements are for a commercially important profile that is near-parabolic in shape in most of the interior of the substrate apart from the spike.

The first and second supporting pins and the loading probe in the cell provide a three-point flexural bending assembly for measuring bending of the polymer sample under varied conditions of temperature and pressure in the presence of a gas.

摘要： A system and method are disclosed for monitoring hot glass containers at the hot end as they stream from an I.S. machine manufacturing them to enable their quality to be monitored, enhanced, and controlled. The system monitors radiation from the hot glass containers, extracts images of each hot glass container, analyzes the images of the hot glass containers, and provides the images of the hot glass containers together with information indicative of the quality thereof to a display screen viewable by an operator to enable the quick identification of glass forming process deviations and to occasion continuous improvements in glass container quality. The system and method are independent of conditions and parameters that have hampered previously known attempts to monitor hot glass containers, and make possible the production of glass containers of both high quality and substantially increased consistency.
