摘要： Various services relating to cellular phones are integrally provided on a SIM card at the initiative of carriers. A wireless communication function via a reflected-wave transmission system is mounted to a SIM card to allow access to a control interface of a SIM card from an external control device via a wireless communication. The SIM card is provided with a credit function for treating electronic money as well as a SIM function for allowing a carrier to treat subscriber information. Furthermore, a high-capacity of memory card function is added to the SIM card to allow access to the control interface of the memory card from a control device via the reflected-wave transmission system.

摘要： An authenticating portable electronic device such as a cellular phone having radio frequency transmission capability, battery power and a keypad. The device further includes a biometric reader proximate the keypad of the device for authenticating the user of the device, as well as a transreceiver in the device for communicating authentication signals with a remote location to verify the identity of the user. Remote locations may be gates, doors or badge screening locations. Also included is a transmitter for sending signals to a transceiver receiver having a connection to a wire telephone system within a structure to permit phone calls using the device through the receiver to and from the wire telephone system. The device includes a connector for connecting to a docking cradle operably connected to a computer for authenticating the user before allowing access to the computer, which can also be the battery charging interface.

To this end, an RF block of the cellular phone detects the incoming call or mail received externally over a communication line. The non-contact IC pays wirelessly and electronically for the commodities and/or services received from the company. If a CPU of the cellular phone is responsive to the RF block detecting the incoming call or mail when the non-contact IC is not performing the paying process for going to a telephone-call establishment process based on an off-hook operation in response to the incoming call. The CPU also automatically answers an external incoming call or mail when the non-contact IC is performing the paying process for producing a hold tone and sends it to the other party, thereby preventing going to a telephone-call establishment process for the incoming call.

Meanwhile, of the data thus read out, data representing additional information (information such as the duration and title of a piece of music that is added to substantial information) is fed from the portable communication terminal to the charger, and this makes it possible to output the additional information, as by displaying it, on the part of the charger. Thus, the user can read out data from the recording medium by using the portable communication terminal in the middle of being charged without feeling awkward, and in addition can recognize the additional information easily even when the portable communication terminal is being charged.

摘要： There are provided a printing apparatus which can maintain an optimal transfer rate with an external device by an optimal buffer management, and a reception buffer management method thereof. In the printing apparatus according to this invention, assume that data received in unit of packet using a wireless interface from the external device is stored in a plurality of reception buffers. A maximum receivable data amount which can be used for receiving the data from the external device is determined on the basis of the number of the confirmed empty reception buffer(s). The data transmittable amount notified of the external device is then compared with the maximum receivable data amount. When receiving a request from the external device, the printing apparatus replies to the external device to change the notified data transmittable amount, in accordance with the comparison result.

摘要： To provide an improved information processing apparatus and a method for controlling the same, which enables to smoothly transfer data, such as processed results obtained from execution of an application program, an HTML file acquired from a Web server in accordance with the TCP/IP protocol or the like, to an external device (PDA) by using an infrared communication function. The disclosed information processing apparatus periodically accesses a predetermined server machine (e.g., a Web server) to acquire a desired file (e.g., an HTML file). This file acquisition operation is carried out without the involvement of operations of an infrared transceiver. In other words, the information processing apparatus attempts to continually perform caching of the most recent download data. As a result, when the PDA as an external device is set into an infrared communication mode and a user simply holds the PDA to a station discoverable region of the information processing apparatus, a connection between them is established, thereby enabling the PDA to receive the most recent data.
