Calibration is executed using a specific recording sheet. Gradation patterns are formed on a recording sheet of a sheet type to be added, and are read by a reader unit. A first conversion table is configured based on information on the read image. A second conversion table is configured based on the first conversion table. When the reader unit is used to perform calibration using the added recording sheet, image forming conditions are set based on information on the image read by the reader unit and the first conversion table, and when the color sensor is used, the image forming conditions are set based on information on the image read by the color sensor and the second conversion table.

The luminance and chroma calculation section calculates a luminance value and a chroma value based on input image data. The image-data determination section determines the input image data, the chroma value of which is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold, as first input image data constituting a chromatic color in a two-color image and determines the input image data, the chroma value of which is less than the threshold, as second input image data constituting an achromatic color in the two-color image. The output-color generation section generates image data of CMY from the first input image data based on the chroma value and the luminance value and generates image data of CMY from the second input image data based on the luminance value.

摘要： A method of providing calibration data for a printer includes printing a calibration target using the printer. The target includes a plurality of patch sets, each including a plurality of test patches, each patch having a respective color. Scanned patch data for one of the sets are received from a spot scanner. The scanned patch data values are compared to respective aims to determine a reproduction error value for the scanned patch set. A processor automatically determines which of the sets should be scanned next using the calculated reproduction error value. The process is repeated until all sets have been scanned, or until the reproduction error value is less than or equal to a selected threshold. Calibration data are automatically generated using the scanned patch data.

The illumination light source (15) includes an infrared light source (21) and a white light source (31). A document reading device is thus provided, which is provided with both an illumination light source and an ultraviolet light source, and can avoid image capturing in the specular reflection condition when the document is deformed, while the size of the device can be reduced.
