    • A digital Storage Element is described. A device is configured including a Storage Element for access by a user responsive to a native control code. A processing arrangement executes a control program for controlling the overall device and executing at least a portion of the native control code as part of the control program for interfacing with the Storage Element. A programming arrangement is provided separate from the device for customizing a read channel within the Storage Element. Command, user interaction and data transfer execution are discussed for mitigation of potential mechanical shock effects. Status indications relating to the Storage Element are provided including head position and mechanical shock. Calibration, test and operational monitoring procedures, for using head position status, are described. Failure configuration monitoring is provided in tracking overall performance and design considerations.

    • A method and system for storing and retrieving data using flash memory devices. One example system includes an apparatus within a flash memory configuration. The flash memory configuration includes a plurality of memory cells, where each memory cell has a charge storage capacity for use in implementing digital storage. The apparatus includes a processing arrangement configured to access each of the memory cells in a write operation and a read operation. The apparatus also includes an instruction set for instructing the processor to impose target charge levels for defining a plurality of data values for each of the memory cells. The target charge levels are programmably movable with respect to the charge storage capacity.

    • A data storage device including a housing including an overmold element with features for sealing the interior from ambient particulates, providing mechanical support with respect to a host, absorbing mechanical shock, and retaining a recirculation filter. The device includes a flexible electronic interconnect connectable to the host. The host includes a cavity. A resilient support extends through a movement margin between the housing and the cavity, absorbing mechanical shock. Bumpers are disposed on the housing and serve to cushion a strike when the device travels through the swing space. The resilient support extends from the corner region and is molded through an opening in the device. A sealing arrangement includes a sealing lip and bias cones and seals the interior of the device from outside particulates. A recirculation filter retention feature retains a recirculation filter. Latching features prevent two opposite portions of the housing from separating.

    • A digital storage arrangement is interfaceable with a host device which defines a cavity. The digital storage arrangement includes a housing receivable in the cavity, with a movement margin between the housing and host device, while a resilient support arrangement is provided for fixed engagement with the host device and for engaging the housing, while extending through the movement margin, to support the housing within the storage device cavity and to subject the storage device to a lesser degree of mechanical shock when the host device receives a given mechanical shock. The resilient support arrangement provides support by extending from each corner region of the housing to the host device. The support arrangement is molded through an opening defined by the housing in each corner region to extend outwardly to the host device. A bumper configuration is provided integral with the support arrangement and including a sealing arrangement.
