    • A display system comprises a digital video source coupled to a digital display device via an digital interface having a timing channel for carrying a pixel clock signal from the video source to the display device and a digital video channel for carrying a digital video bit stream from the video source to the display device. The video source comprises a pixel clock generator for generating the pixel clock signal, palette logic for outputting a pixel word on each pulse of the pixel clock signal, shift clock logic for multiplying the pixel clock signal by the number of bits in the pixel word to produce a shift clock signal, and serialiser logic for serially outputting the pixel word in the serial bit stream at the shift clock signal rate. The display device comprises a display screen for producing a pixel of an image in response to the pixel word; shift clock generator logic for multiplying the pixel clock signal by the number of bits in the pixel word, and deserialiser logic for receiving the input video bit stream at the shift clock signal rate to re-generate the pixel word from the video bit stream.

    • A system for monitoring email and website behavior of an email recipient is provided. According to one exemplary embodiment, the system includes a mail enhancement server and a logging server. The mail enhancement server is configured to intercept all outgoing emails from a mail server. The mail enhancement server then modifies each outgoing email to include a tracking code. The tracking code is embedded in an image call which in turn is also inserted into the outgoing email. If the outgoing email contains hyperlinks, each hyperlink is also modified to include the tracking code. The tracking code is uniquely associated with the outgoing email. The image call (and the tracking code) is used to detect when the recipient of the outgoing email has opened that email. The tracking code, when embedded in a hyperlink, is also used to monitor whether the recipient has opened the email and/or clicked through on one or more of the hyperlinks in the email. The logging server associates a cookie with the recipient of the outgoing email. When the logging server receives an image call, the corresponding image and the cookie are concurrently delivered to the recipient. The cookie is used to monitor the behavior of the recipient at a website, regardless of how the recipient arrives at that website, be it through a click-through from the email or otherwise. The logging server is configured to capture and store relevant information relating to the outgoing email thereby allowing the sender of the outgoing email and the recipient to be linked and the behavior of the recipient to be monitored via the tracking code, the image call and the cookie.

    • A display device having a cathode for emitting electrons and a permanent magnet. A two dimensional array of channels extends between opposite poles of the magnet. The magnet generates, in each channel, a magnetic field for forming electrons from the cathode into an electron beam. A screen receives an electron beam from each channel. The screen has a phosphor coating facing the side of the magnet remote from the cathode. The phosphor coating having a plurality of pixels each corresponding to a different channel and each having a plurality of different color sub-pixels. An electrode grid is disposed between the cathode and the magnet for controlling flow of electrons from the cathode into each channel. A plurality of anodes each disposed on the surface of the magnet remote from the cathode, each corresponding to a different channel, and each having a first and second anode respectively extending along opposite sides of the corresponding channel for accelerating electrons through the corresponding channel and for sequentially addressing electrons emerging from the corresponding channel to different sub-pixels of the corresponding pixel. The first and second anodes associated with each channel are skewed relative to the sub-pixels of the corresponding pixel.

    • A conductive coating on the front surface of the display screen is used to determine the position of an object, such as a user's finger, touching the screen. Sensors at the edge of the conductive coating detect changes in the level of the ambient field pickup when the user's finger touches the display screen. The conductive coating may optionally be divided into blocks with separate connections to each block, or may have a resistivity profile so as to allow full X and Y co-ordinate determination of the position of the finger. Also, optionally, a stylus generating an electromagnetic field when in contact with the display may be used in place of the finger.
