摘要： An image reading apparatus includes a drive source, a speed change mechanism provided in a transmission unit that transmits a driving force from the drive source to a scanning drive unit. The speed change mechanism is configured to change a transmission ratio of the transmission unit by selectively bringing one of first and second couplings into a connected state. The image reading apparatus further includes a selector configured to selectively bring one of the first and second couplings into the connected state, a detector configured to detect the connected state of the second coupling, and a controller configured to control a scanning position of the reading unit based on the transmission ratio changed via the second coupling after the detector detects the connected state of the second coupling after the selector changes selection from the first coupling to the second coupling.

摘要： An image reading unit which is capable of optimally reading images from both reflective originals and transparent originals. A first rod lens array 15 collects reflected light from a reflective original that reflects light. A first photoelectric conversion element array 14 reads an image of the reflective original based on the reflected light collected by the first rod lens array 15. A second rod lens array 202 collects light transmitted through a transparent original that transmits light. A second photoelectric conversion element array 201 reads an image of the transparent original based on the transmitted light collected by the second rod lens array 202. The first photoelectric conversion element array 14 is mounted on a first substrate 16. The second photoelectric conversion element array 201 is mounted on a second substrate 203. The first substrate 16 and the second substrate 203 are disposed separately, and the first photoelectric conversion element array 14 and the second photoelectric conversion element array 201 are disposed on different planes.

摘要： In an inkjet printing apparatus capable of automatic duplex printing, time required to fix ink is shortened and throughput is improved without producing uneven fixing. The inkjet printing apparatus includes a printing unit that prints onto a sheet, a fixing unit that heats a sheet printed by the printing unit, a conveying unit that conveys a sheet with respect to the printing unit and the fixing unit, and a controller that controls the conveying unit such that a printing region of a sheet printed on the first side by the printing unit passes through the fixing unit, and afterwards, the conveyance direction of the sheet is reversed in order to print on the second side and the printing region once again passes through the fixing unit. The controller variably controls the conveyance speed of the sheet when the printing region once again passes through the fixing unit.
