The system may include N frameworks, each framework may include a detector to partition the desired symbols and the interferer symbols based on an interference severity into a dominant group and a non-dominant group, and to generate A Posteriori Probabilities (APP) of the desired symbols and the interferer symbols. The detector of each of the N frameworks generates the APP based on a feedback of a priori probabilities from each of the N frameworks.

摘要： A burst classifier is useful in a digital communication system transmitting a signal burst of a plurality of different burst types. The burst classifier includes a plurality of filters associated with the plurality of different burst types, respectively. Each filter generates correlation data based on the signal burst and a respective plurality of reference signals offset by a plurality of time offsets. The respective pluralities of reference signals are indicative of a corresponding burst type of the plurality of different burst types. A comparator then analyzes quantities based on the correlation data from each filter to determine the burst type of the signal burst.

摘要： A system and method for providing multi-input multi-output (MIMO) feeder links for a multibeam satellite system. The method includes configuring a X×Y MIMO antenna system using X-antennae having dominant line-of-sight (LoS) of Y-antennae; transmitting, simultaneously, a Tx signal as X Tx signals on a MIMO channel with the X-antennae; receiving the X Tx signals on the MIMO channel with the Y-antennae as Y Rx signals, wherein each of the Y-antennae generate one of the Y Rx signals; and ground-interference processing the X Tx signals or the Y Rx signals to recover the Tx signal; satellite-interference processing the X Tx signals or the Y Rx signals to recover the Tx signal. In the method, the ground interference processing includes countermeasures as either pre-interference processing when the X-antennae are disposed on a ground or post-interference processing when the X-antennae are disposed in a Geosynchronous orbit satellite. Gateway diversity for multiple MIMO feeder links utilizing these countermeasures improves weather-resiliency and significantly enhances overall satellite network availability.

摘要： A new pulse shape for CPM is introduced which is obtained by a linear combination of well-known RC and REC pulse shapes. The new pulse shape addresses the tradeoff between the width of the PSD main lobe and the rate of decay of the side lobe to improve the coded performance of multi-carrier systems affected by ACI. Also, a methodology is proposed to design and evaluate the performance of the new pulse shape for multi-carrier, coded systems based on the modulation constrained capacity. Furthermore, a binary convolutional code and the CPM modulator are concatenated using an S-random bit interleaver to lower the error floor. Finally, Laurent representation of the new pulse shape is suggested such that by retaining only the principal pulses at the receiver, complexity of the receiver can be reduced.

摘要： This disclosure relates to a communication system including a modulator and a demodulator. The modulator produces a modulated signal including a carrier and data signals representing data bits. The data signals include at least two in-phase modulating pulses which have different shapes and which are interfering in time and frequency; the data signals further include at least two quadrature modulating pulses which have different shapes and which are interfering in time and frequency. The modulator includes a filter for producing each shape of pulse, and combining circuits for combining the pulses with each other and with a carrier. The demodulator (or receiver) receives the combined signal and separates the pulses from the carrier. The demodulator further includes filters for separating the pulses, and a circuit for processing the pulses to reproduce the data bits. The processing circuit preferably includes one or more maximum likelihood sequence estimation equalizers.

The third equalized signal is based on the first signal, the second signal and the first estimation.
