    • The present disclosure involves a method of orientation control. Media content is displayed via a screen of a mobile computing device. The media content is displayed in a first orientation mode. A first satisfaction of a predefined condition is detected. In response to the detected first satisfaction of the predefined condition, the media content is displayed in a second orientation mode different from the first orientation mode. One of the first and second orientation modes is portrait, the other one of the first and second orientation modes is landscape. A second satisfaction of the predefined condition is detected immediately after the media content has been displayed in the second orientation mode. In response to the detected second satisfaction of the predefined condition, the media content is displayed in the first orientation mode. Thereafter, the predefined condition is adjusted in a manner so that it is more difficult to satisfy.

    • An improved transmission protocol is used to transmit a signal between two components of an electronic device. The improved transmission protocol is configured to reduce the number of simultaneous channel transitions that occur when multiple signal channels are transmitted in parallel. Reducing the number of simultaneous channel transitions is beneficial because a signal that is subject to skew, distortion, or electromagnetic interference during transmission may have a shorter settling time when fewer channels undergo a transition simultaneously. When the protocol is used to transmit a signal from a controller to an optical pickup unit in an optical data storage system, the reduced settling times allow for a higher data transmission rate.

    • A driving circuit for regulating current in a light source using a tracking component. The tracking component detects the voltage difference between an input node in the input stage and an output node in the output stage. The input stage is connected to a current source and includes an input transistor. The output stage is connected to the light source and includes an output transistor. The tracking component generates an output that controls the input and output transistors based on the voltage difference between the input node and the output node so that the voltage at the input node tracks the voltage at the output node. By using the tracking component, the LED driver can achieve accurate current control through one output transistor instead of cascaded transistors, resulting in lower output operating voltage and reduced power dissipation of the LED driver. Further, the tracking component is intermittently operated or shared across different channels to reduce energy consumption of the LED driver.
