The LLR combining apparatus includes an LLR combiner for combining a first LLR of a currently received packet and a second LLR of a previously received packet, an LLR buffer for storing the second LLR and a first packet exponent for recovering the second LLR in the same size as the first LLR, and an HARQ controller for determining whether the currently received packet is a retransmission packet or an initial transmission packet, and for controlling the LLR combiner to generate a third LLR by combining the first and second LLRs for the retransmission packet and to bypass the initial transmission packet.

An interference channel estimator fixes synchronization and estimates an interference signal. An interference signal controller eliminates the estimated interference signal from a received RF signal. The signal detection method and apparatus includes selecting a symbol corresponding to a lowest branch metric from among symbols, the number of which corresponds to a modulation scheme, determining a candidate symbol by extending a process of selecting a symbol corresponding to a lowest branch metric from among the selected symbols, to a number which is less by one than the number of the transmit antennas, setting an accumulated branch metric of the candidate symbol as a threshold, removing a symbol having an accumulated branch metric higher than the threshold, and selecting, as a last received symbol, a symbol corresponding to a path having the lowest accumulated branch metric among paths selected without being removed until a last stage.
