摘要： A process and apparatus for collecting data for nondestructive evaluation of the quality of a crimped wire connector are provided. The process involves providing a crimping tool having an anvil and opposing jaw for crimping a terminal onto a stranded wire, moving the jaw relative to the anvil to close the distance between the jaw and the anvil and thereby compress the terminal against the wire, while transmitting ultrasonic waves that are propagated through the terminal-wire combination and received at a receiving ultrasonic transducer as the jaw is moved relative to the anvil, and detecting and recording the position of the jaw relative to the anvil as a function of time and detecting and recording the amplitude of the ultrasonic wave that is received at the receiving ultrasonic transducer as a function of time as the jaw is moved relative to the anvil.

摘要： In a method of making a carbon fibre preform such as for use in the manufacture of a friction disc a compressible body of carbon fibre or carbon fibre precursor material is acted upon by compressing means to compress the body to a required thickness and then operated upon by means such as a barbed needle-punch needle for a stitching thread which penetrates substantially the whole thickness of the body whereby the compressed preform may be removed from action by the compressing means in a free-standing and compressed state. If the method uses carbon fibre precursor material, that is then subjected to carbonization.

The thus prepared pillared interlayered clay exhibits high surface area, high methane storage capacity and high resolution in separating gaseous hydrocarbons.

摘要： A fluid flow meter of fluid-tight, sandwiched assembly of three flat faced plates with transparent, fluid impervious sheets interposed between the plates. The central plate is symmetrically tapered to be wider at the upper end than at the lower end. Each of the three plates has at least one elongated slot cut therethrough with the slots in coplanar alignment in the sandwiched assembly. The central, tapered plate has extensions at either end of the slot cut less than all the way through from the same side of the plate. The plate and transparent sheet adjacent to the side of the tapered plate containing the slot extension have perforations therethrough aligned to permit passage of fluid from the outside of the meter through the extensions to the slot in the central plate. A plummet is inserted in the slot in the second plate.

摘要： The present invention relates to a vibration absorber in which an absorber end mass is coupled to a primary mass by means of a cantilevered beam, wherein at least a portion of the beam comprises a shape memory alloy (SMA). Preferably, the end mass is coupled to the primary mass with several discrete SMA wires which may be individually heated. When each of the SMA wires is heated above a predetermined temperature, the SMA material undergoes a phase change which results in a change in the stiffness of the SMA wire. Heating of the various wires in various combinations allows the operational frequency of the absorber to be actively tuned. The frequency of the absorber may therefore be tuned to closely match the current vibrational frequency of the primary mass, thereby allowing the absorber to be adaptively tuned to the frequency of the primary mass in a simple and straightforward manner.
