    • The present invention pertains to a method for attaching two surfaces to each other or coating a surface, comprising the steps of providing a bioadhesive composition consisting of a bioadhesive polyphenolic protein derived from a byssus-forming mussel, mixing the bioadhesive protein with a strongly alkaline solution before or simultaneously as applying the composition to the surfaces which are to be attached to each other or the surface to be coated. The surfaces are then joined and left for a sufficiently long time to allow curing to occur alternatively the surface coated by the composition is left for a sufficiently long time to allow curing to occur. The invention can be provided as a kit of parts comprising the bioadhesive protein solution and a preparation of a strongly alkaline solution.

    • A method includes wetting fibers with a resin capable of being cured by at least two different cure treatments. At least partially curing the resin by subjecting the resin to a first cure treatment and at least partially curing the resin by subjecting the resin to a second cure treatment. A plurality of fibers are located adjacent each other so that a plurality of valleys are formed between the plurality of fibers along an outer side of the reinforcement. The resin is cured to retain the valleys in the outer side of the reinforcement. The outer side of the reinforcement is adhered to the structural member. An apparatus including a fiber locating mechanism adapted to retain the peaks and valleys during curing of the resin without rigidly confining the outer side of the reinforcement.

    • Process for manufacturing molded articles made of plastics, cellulose, pulp or wood fibers with cavities, in particular composite parts for light weight construction, by means of tool parts, including the following process steps: a) matrix layer is provided at pre-selected locations with inserts containing gas-creating substances or blowing agents and b) these inserts are activated to create gas in tool parts and thus expand the matrix material. Also disclosed are gas-creating insertion elements for use in the process and made of gas-creating blowing substances enclosed in gas-proof sheaths or inserted into the matrix material in order to form locally limited areas. This process allows the production of particularly light and at the same time solid tool parts, in particular composite parts for light-weight construction.
