    • According to one embodiment, a data storage device, includes: a recording medium, statuses of storage areas of the recording medium being managed by groups; a managing table storage module storing a managing table in which bit information pieces are associated to indexes representing the groups, the bit information pieces indicating the statuses of the storage areas initially set to an erased status; a transfer controller storing, upon receiving a write command, data in the storage areas; and a controller updates the bit information pieces of one of the groups to which the storage areas belongs to a stored status. Upon receiving an erase command, the transfer controller overwrites the storage areas by predetermined data. The main controller is configured to update the bit information pieces to the erased status.

    • A frequency synthesizer generates, through setting of a frequency control value, a reference clock having a frequency necessary to read data from a medium. When reading data from an arbitrary position on the medium, a setting control unit sets in the frequency synthesizer a frequency control value corresponding to the zone position, thereby allowing the frequency synthesizer to control a reference clock frequency, and sets in a single or a plurality of processing units other than the frequency synthesizer a predetermined control value corresponding to the read position on the medium. A settling wait processing unit calculates a settling time T1 required for a frequency of the frequency synthesizer to become stable and a setting processing time T2 necessary for the setting control of the other processing unit, and defines as a wait time Tw a difference (T1-T2) between the settling time T1 and the setting processing time T2, during which wait time Tw a migration to the subsequent processing is kept waiting.

    • An apparatus for forming tapered threads on a pipe such as a gas pipe comprises a base table on which a chuck device for holding a pipe is mounted in an opposing relation to a casing also mounted on the base table. A rotary disc is mounted on one side of the casing to be rotatable and a plurality of, at least three, die supporting plates are pivoted on one side of a rotary member integrally formed to the rotary disc. A plurality of rolling dies detachably attached to the disc supporting plates, respectively, and the rolling dies are rotated through a power transmission mechanism operatively connected to a drive source. To the respective die supporting plates are fitted a operational wheel to be movable axially with respect to the rotary members, the operational wheel being provided with a circumferential groove formed on the outer periphery thereof, to which a slidable ring is fitted, and a manipulative wheel is pivoted by a pair of pins positioned in the diametrical direction to the slidable ring, the manipulative wheel shifted by 90.degree. with respect to the pins being pivoted to the casing.

    • A powder coating composition which comprises a mixture of in a given proportion(A) a polyester resin which contains hydroxyl groups as functional group and contains at least 80 mol.% of an aromatic polycarboxylic acid component in the polycarboxylic acid component of said polyester resin, said polyester resin having a softening point of 50.degree.-180.degree.
