摘要： A blood pump having rotor and/or stator touch down zones to prevent pump failure or hemolysis which can occur if the rotor comes into contact with the stator due to power failure or mechanical shock. The touch down zones can include forming, or coating, portions of adjacent surfaces of the stator and rotor which can come into contact if a rotor touch down occurs. The materials used to form or coat the touch down zones can have properties which ensure that no consequential damage to the contacting surfaces occurs.

摘要： Disclosed is a self-expanding cannula, systems using such cannulae, and methods of their use. The cannulae may comprise single lumen cannula (SLC) configurations and double lumen cannula (DLC) configurations, and include at least a first cannula and a self-expanding wire frame attached to the first cannula. Self-expanding wire frame is automatically expandable from a compressed state (providing a reduced cannula diameter as it is moved through a patients body to the site at which it is to be deployed) to an expanded state (which increases the diameter of the cannula to the diameter intended for its normal use). The expanded wire frame provides radial support to prevent a drainage canal (whether a patients blood vessel or a portion of the system inserted into the patients blood vessel) from collapsing as fluid is drained from the patient.

摘要： The invention relates to an integrated centrifugal blood pump-oxygenator (1) comprising a housing (2) with a top (3) having a blood inlet (4), a blood outlet (5) and a gas inlet (6), and a bottom (7) having a rotational body (8) being rotatably arranged in a rotor-housing (9) of the bottom (7). The integrated centrifugal blood pump-oxygenator (1) further comprises an oxygenator membrane (10) provided in an interior (11) of the housing (2), wherein in the operation state oxygen (12) is transferred from the gas inlet (6) through the oxygenator membrane (10) to an gas outlet (13) and a blood (14) is brought in direct contact with the oxygenator membrane (10) by pumping the blood (14) by the rotational body (8) from the blood inlet (4) to the blood outlet (5). According to the invention, the rotational body (8) is magnetically journalled in a contact free manner with respect to the rotor-housing (9). The invention is also related to an extracorporeal life support system (1000) and a method of de-bubbling and priming a extracorporeal life support system (1000) in accordance with the present invention.

摘要： Provided herein are hemo-compatible, anti- and non-thrombogenic, heparin-based bioactive coatings for a surface to be contacted with blood, such as a surface of an oxygenator device (e.g., a Hollow Fiber Membrane (HFM) surface) or an artificial lung, which coatings include a quaternary ammonium salt and heparin complex (QUAT). According to example embodiments, the surface is treated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), followed by a coating layer of said quaternary ammonium salts and heparin complex (QUAT) to form a PVP-QUAT coating. According to other example embodiments, anionic functional groups are created on the one or more surfaces of the HFM by modifying the surface of the HFM using ionic complexes dissolved in a solvent mixture that includes major quantity of alcohol along with a minor quantity of organic dissolving agents. Also provided are methods of making the provided coatings, methods of coating a surface, oxygenator devices and artificial lungs that have been coated, and kits that include such coatings.
