    • An electrically driven signal unit is adapted for one-step assembly or injection molding with a device housing to vibrate, flex, beep or emit audio signals, or to sense and provide tactile feedback or control. The signal unit is a package with one or more active areas each containing a layer of ferroelectric or piezoelectric material, connected by inactive areas which may position, align and conduct electricity to the active areas. The active areas may be coupled over a region to transmit compressional, shear or flxural wave energy into the housing, or may contact at discrete regions while bending or displacing elsewhere to create inertial disturbances or impulses which are coupled to create a tactile vibration of the housing. The unit may be assembled such that the housing, the sheet or discrete areas thereof form a bender to provide tactile or sub-auditory signals to the user, or may be dimensioned, attached and actuated to produce audio vibration in the combined structure and constitute a speaker. In other embodiments one or more active regions of piezo material are attached to thin or movable wall regions of the unit to sense strain and, in conjunction with a conditioning circuit, produce electrical switching or control signals for the device. The invention also includes electroactive sheet structures having a polymer block, bracket or functional body formed therearound, which serves as a mounting, coupling or functional operating structure for the driven device.

    • A zero-IF receiver includes an adaptive filter that is enabled when intermodulation distortion is detected. The adaptive filter is configured as a notch filter that is centered at the location of the second-order intermodulation distortion, which, in a zero-IF receiver, is at zero Hertz. In a preferred embodiment, the frequency response of the high pass filter that is typically used in a conventional zero-IF receiver is adjusted when intermodulation distortion is detected. Preferably, the detection of the intermodulation distortion is based on one or more of the digital baseband signals, for ease of implementation, but analog processing may also be employed.

    • An electronic checklist program is provided for commercially available printed circuit board layout design programs. The checklist program creates a file which is appended to a design file created by the layout program. The checklist program has step menus indicating steps for each interval to be completed in the layout design. When steps in an interval are completed, the time is logged for each and when an interval is done, the cumulative time is logged. The program tracks the last step completed such that on start-up with a previously created design, the program skips to the screen including the last completed step. Provision is also made to churn completed intervals and log churn time.

    • A real image projection system is provided including a projection system housing with an aperture. This device provides a real image projected into a viewable volume of space relative to the aperture. An optical assembly and an object positioning device adjacent to the optic assembly provide the real image. The object positioning device may position an object adjacent to the optic assembly in dynamic or static fashion. The optical assembly receives the light rays reflected from the object and projects a real image of the object into the viewable volume of space. The invention provides environmental visual cues to promote perception of a three-dimensional image. The invention further includes a secondary mirror for use in reducing or minimizing the overall size of the system housing.
