    • What is described is the use of a polyamide moulding composition for the production of a stain-resistant article, the staining tendency (ST) of the article being at least 2. Here, the composition contains 30-100% by weight of a polyamide or a polyamide mixture, consisting of 50-100% by weight of at least one amorphous and/or microcrystalline polyamide having a glass transition temperature of at least 100° C., based on: 20-100 mol % of at least one cycloaliphatic diamine; and 0-80 mol % of at least one other aliphatic and/or aromatic diamine; and also aromatic and/or aliphatic dicarboxylic acids comprising at least 6 carbon atoms, and 0-50% by weight of at least one semi-aromatic polyamide. In addition, 0-70% by weight of fibrous fillers (B1) and/or particulate fillers (B2), 0-30% by weight of impact toughness modifier and/or polymers different from (A), 0-25% by weight of a flame retardant, and 0-3% by weight of additives may also be contained.

The block copolymers are produced by producing polyamide or copolyamide blocks with an average molar mass in the range between 500 and 5,000 g/Mol with an amino end group in a first polymerization or polycondensation step and degassing in order to reduce the water content; adding, in a second step, α,ω-functionalized polyalkyl(meth)acrylate diols; and fully condensing the reaction mixture into high-molecular block copolymer (A) at a reduce pressure in a further polycondensation step; discharging it, or further processing it into molding bodies.

    • What is described is a polyamide molding material based on semicrystalline polyamides for production of LED housings or housing components with high strength, high long-term reflectivity and low blistering tendency. The polyamide moulding material proposed consists of the following components (A) 40 to 80% by weight of at least one semiaromatic polyamide based on at least 70 mol % of aromatic dicarboxylic acids and at least 70 mol % of aliphatic diamines having 4 to 18 carbon atoms and having a melting temperature in the range from 270° C. to 340° C. (B) 10 to 30% by weight of titanium dioxide particles (C) 5 to 20% by weight of glass fibres (D) 5-30% by weight of calcium carbonate. The percentages by weight of components (A) to (D) together add up to 100%, with the proviso that components (B), (C) and (D) meet the following conditions: (B)+(C)+(D)=20 to 60% by weight; weight ratio of (C)/(D) in the range from 0.25 to 1.5, where the polyamide molding material may optionally comprise customary additives (E) in addition to components (A) to (D), and where the amount thereof is in addition to the sum of components (A) to (D).

    • The temperature of the working gas in the heating chamber of each of a number of cylinders is continuously measured. An electronic selection circuit selects the lowest measured temperature as a control parameter by which the speed of a blower in the common air supply is controlled for providing an air flow proportional to blower speed. A pressure-detecting device measures the air flow through a pressure converter provides an electrical signal that normally controls the valves of the respective fuel supplies for the combustion chambers of the cylinders, but a monitoring device for each cylinder compares the measured working gas temperature with a pre-set maximum value so that when the maximum value is exceeded, the fuel supply valve is changed over to control by the output of the monitoring device, to reduce the fuel supply until the maximum temperature is no longer exceeded in that cylinder. For still a higher temperature of the working gas in any cylinder, determined by another sensor, a general shutdown valve reduces the common fuel supply. An auxiliary air supply provides atomizing air for fuel injection.

    • This invention relates to biologically degradable, partially crystalline block copolyester-polyamides comprising at least two chemically differently structured segments of which at least one is a polyester (PES) block or a copolyester (coPES) block, preferably with a number average molecular mass of 340 to 10,000 g/mole, and at least one is a polyamide (PA) block or a copolyamide (coPA) block, preferably with a number average molecular mass of 400 to 3,000 g/mole. In addition, copolyester-amide (coPEA) blocks can be employed, preferably with a number average molecular mass of 500 to 5,000 g/mole. The invention also relates to a polycondensation process for the manufacture of these partially crystalline block copolyester-polyamides. The block copolymers described are useful for the manufacture of fibers, foils, molded articles and hot melt-type adhesives. Molded components manufactured from the copolymers in accordance with the invention are biologically degradable and are capable of being composted.
