    • Mobile commerce authentication and authorization systems enable currently existing point-of-sale devices that are neither structurally nor systemically altered to conduct financial transactions with a customer using an access terminal across a wireless communications system. The point-of-sale devices receive an input from a payment instrument replacement, which identifies the transaction to the point-of-sale device as a transaction including an access terminal. Authentication of the user of the access terminal is achieved at least by application of position and/or location determinable features of the access terminal, the position and/or location of a point-of-sale device of a vendor or merchant where the customer seeks to purchase goods or services, and the payment sum entered on the point-of-sale device. A payment matching server may assist in processing the location data and the payment sum amount across communications network.

    • Techniques for providing navigation support for private premises are described. In an aspect, a composite map may be generated by combining a geo-coded map for public areas with another geo-coded map for a private premise. The composite map may be generated in real time and may be provided as an aid for navigation in both the public areas and the private premise. In another aspect, a geo-coded map may be dynamically determined based on the current configuration of a private premise, which may be reconfigurable over time. The geo-coded map may include improvised roadways and/or other improvised features and may be provided as an aid for navigation within the private premise. In one design, a navigation path for a destination of a vehicle may be dynamically determined based on the current configuration of the private premise and may be provided to aid navigation.

    • Methods and devices provide a virtual peripheral hub and services enabling remote access to peripherals commonly connected to personal computers in a manner that simplifies device networking. A virtual peripheral hub device may include a processor and wireless communication transceivers configured to connect to cellular and/or WiFi networks to access a remote server, and wired and/or wireless local networks for connecting to peripheral devices. The virtual peripheral hub device may plug into a power source (e.g., a wall socket or cigarette lighter), connect to a peripheral device, and be configured to enable any computer attached to a local area network or the Internet to use or access the peripheral device. An associated server-based service enables discovery of the virtual peripheral hub device and connected peripherals. The associated server-based server may provide the drivers for various peripherals, store and forward data, and provide remote access to the various peripherals.
