摘要： An IMD can be implanted into a patient to address various conditions. The IMD case and leads can have various electrodes and other portions to measure various physiological conditions. For example, a selected current can be generated between two electrodes, either external or internal in the patient, and a voltage can be measured by one or more electrodes of the IMD. A voltage can be measured at two or more locations to determine a relative motion of different electrodes. If the electrodes are in different portions of the heart, a determination can be made of a relative motion or position of the heart or portions of the heart.

摘要： Medical systems and methods incorporate monitoring of at least two implanted markers, each of which is adapted to wirelessly transmit a signal in response to a wirelessly transmitted excitation signal; the response signals are converted into positional information for the two markers. The systems and methods further incorporate both, or one of, an implanted sensing member and/or an implanted therapy delivery device. Signals received from the sensing member may be collated with the positional information. A therapy delivered from the therapy delivery device may be adjusted according to the positional information.

摘要： A method for monitoring a patient includes measuring a series of consecutive pulse transit times (PTT's) of the patient, and processing the resulting PTT signal to detect a presence or absence of central sleep apnea (CSA). The method further includes determining an effectiveness of congestive heart failure therapy, which is being provided to the patient, based on the detected presence or absence of CSA. A system incorporating the method includes an electrode of an implantable medical device, which is adapted to pick up the patient's ventricular depolarization signals, a sensor, which is adapted to pick up peripheral arterial pulse signals of the patient, and a signal processor, which is adapted to receive the two types of signals and to process the signals according to the method. The system may provide the therapy via cardiac resynchronization pacing and, upon detection of CSA, the system may adjust at least one pacing parameter.

The mapping instrument can include one or more electrodes that can sense a voltage that can be correlated to a three dimensional location of the electrode at the time of the sensing or measurement. Therefore, a map of a volume can be determined based upon the sensing of the plurality of points without the use of other imaging devices. An implantable medical device can then be navigated relative to the mapping data.
