摘要： A stream playback device for playing back an audio stream including audio frames which are each made up of base data and extension data is provided. The stream playback device includes a decoder and an interface unit operable to receive the audio stream supplied from a stream supply device. The stream playback device notifies the stream supply device whether only the base data or both the base data and the extension data are usable in decoding of the audio stream by the decoder, through the interface unit.

A dynamic scenario reads profile information from PSR 31 of the playback apparatus and judges whether or not the playback apparatus is an audio-only type. If it is judged that the playback apparatus is not the audio-only type, an interactive screen is displayed to perform a control to play back a digital stream according to an operation made onto the interactive screen. If it is judged that the playback apparatus is the audio-only type, a control is performed to play back a digital stream according to an operation that is made without use of the interactive screen.

摘要： A stream generation apparatus of the present invention is a stream generation apparatus which generates a stream including coded pictures and a command for managing a buffer which holds a decoded picture, the command being added to one of the coded pictures as a reference picture. It includes a judging unit which judges whether or not the coded picture to which the command is added is skipped at the time of trick-play, an adding unit which adds, in the case where the coded picture is judged to be skipped, repetition information indicating the same contents as the command to another coded picture that follows, in decoding order, the coded picture judged to be skipped and that is not skipped at the time of the trick-play, and a generating unit which generates the stream including the coded pictures, the command and the repetition information.

On the local storage 200, an audio stream specified as the SubClip is recorded. The audio stream includes a plurality of PES packets which are each attached with a packet identifier (PID) that includes an upper field and a lower field. The upper field indicates that the audio stream containing the packet is a secondary audio stream whose reproduction output is able to be mixed with a reproduction output of the primary audio stream.
