When viewed from a normal line direction of a virtual plane including a normal line of the first incident surface and a normal line of the second incident surface, an optical axis of the image light from the image light generation device toward the first reflection section and an optical axis of the image light from the first diffraction element toward the second reflection section intersect each other.

Each of the first and the second dichroic film does not have a polarization separation characteristic.

A reflection surface of the first reflection element is a concave surface being a free-curved surface and being recessed in a central portion with respect to a peripheral portion, and an intermediate image is formed between the first reflection element and the second diffraction element. A reflection surface of the second reflection element is a concave surface being a free-curved surface and being recessed in a central portion with respect to a peripheral portion, and an intermediate image is formed between the second reflection element and the first diffraction element. Therefore, an intermediate lens for forming an intermediate image is not provided.
