The data processing unit inputs sensor detection signals from a sensor that acquires environmental light information in a periphery of the display unit, and applies the sensor detection signals and generates output image signals by carrying out signal conversion processing in which different signal conversion algorithms are applied to original input image signals of the content in a content unit, a unit of scenes configuring a content, or a frame unit.
