摘要： The present invention relates to thermally conductive materials, including, for instance, thermally conductive tubing and thermally conductive apparel, and applications thereof. In particular, the invention relates to thermally conductive tubing that can used in thermoregulatory apparel, such as, for example, cooling garments and cooling vests. In at least one embodiment, the present invention includes a thermally conductive material made from one or more base polymers and one or more additives that increase the thermal conductivity of the thermally conductive material relative to the one or more base polymers. The base polymer may include, for example, ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), and the additive may include, for example, graphite fibers. The thermally conductive material may also include, for instance, a secondary polymer, such as ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) and/or a plasticizer, such as bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DEHA). Thermally conductive material produced according to one or more embodiments of the present invention may also be extruded or formed to create thermally conductive tubing and/or sheets.

摘要： Systems, devices, and methods for underwater communications are disclosed. In particular, the present invention relates to laser-mediated underwater communications, in which one or more laser signals transmit encoded information from a transmitter to a receiver. Accordingly, at least one embodiment of the invention includes an underwater transmitter node that sends information to an underwater receiver node using one or more lasers. The one or more lasers may be focused on to the underwater receiver node using a lens, telescope, or the like. The one or more lasers may additionally have a wavelength in the blue-green portion of the visible spectrum, including specifically, for instance, 450 nm, thereby enabling the one or more lasers to transmit effectively underwater. In additional embodiments of the invention, the information transmitted between the underwater transmitter node and the underwater receiver node is an encoded digital transmission. The present invention also includes underwater systems having one or more communications nodes, one or more laser hubs, and one or more communications buoys, all of which can be linked together in a chain.

The ceramic nanoparticles may be Yttria-stabilized tetragonal Zirconia (YSZ) or Samarium doped Ceria (SDC). The nanopowder may be CNT-YSZ or SDC-Na2CO3. The shock-wave consolidation may be performed with a laser, and may involve positioning the nano-powder on a support material, placing an ablative layer over the support material and nano-powder, placing a transparent re-usable capping layer over the ablative layer, and directing laser energy at the capping layer, turning an area of the ablative layer below the capping layer into plasma and generating shock waves through the nano-powder and support material.

摘要： A single focal plane integrated circuit hybrid replaces multiple focal plane circuits and associated off-focal plane signal processing electronics. A dual function, dual color focal plane PSD sensor chip assembly includes a PSD array, a traditional pixelized camera array, a signal processing chip, and flip-chip interconnects and wirebond pads to support electronics on the signal processing chip. The camera array is made of a material sensitive to wavelengths longer than the PSD array material is sensitive to. The PSD array is disposed in the same substrate as the camera array. The PSD array tracks object locations and directs the camera array to window and zoom while capturing images. Inherent registration of PSD cells to the pixelized camera array makes responsivity map testing and spatial calibration unnecessary. Reduction in power dissipation is achieved by powering on the camera array only when the PSD detects a change in scene.

摘要： A lysimeter has an elongated, relatively narrow sample pipe with flanges at upper and lower ends. A lysimeter assembly is connected to the lower end of the sample pipe by connecting an upper end of a central tube in the assembly to a lower end of the sample pipe. A circular lysimeter pan extends around the central tube. Vertical slits in the central tube provide a screen to permit water flow into the central tube from the pan but to prevent granular materials from the filter pack. Vertical webs in the pan rigidify the pan, and radial supporting webs and a ring beneath the pan support the pan. A relatively large diameter collection chamber has a spheroidal lower end and an upper end which receives the ring for centering the lysimeter pan at the upper end of the collection chamber. An outward and upward sloping flange at an upper end of the collection chamber with an elastic seal supports the lower conical wall of the lysimeter pan. A wick in the pan extends through slits in the central tube to wick water from the pan into the central tube and to flow water down along the inner wall of the central tube. The bottom of the central tube is open and is sloped, and an upward opening inner groove is formed around the lower end of the central tube. A drain tube is connected to a lower portion of the groove. A sampler is raised and lowered and positioned by a rod or chain extending through the sample pipe and central tube, so that a funnel at the upper end of a flask is aligned with the drain tube. Drain openings are provided in the canister bottom.

摘要： Frequency imaging of different areas or object in an image is created by a visible light, infrared or other cameras taking multiple sequential images is disclosed. The images are recorded and stacked. Pixels that vary in the images yield time varying data on a pixel by pixel basis. The time varying data is processed to extract pixel by pixel signal spectrum or another similar signal metric. Frequency at each pixel is displayed and distinguished, such as by recoloring the pixels based on spectral power rather than intensity contrast.
