摘要： Methods, devices and systems are disclosed for chemically bonding antibiotics to selected substrate materials which are not dissolved in normal physiological processes so that high local concentrations can be achieved during the inflammatory response. The antibiotics will remain permanently bonded to the substrate material until an infection occurs which releases the antibiotic in high concentrations to help control the infection. The high local concentrations may be much higher than systemic toxic levels, and can never reach toxic levels because the local dose is much less than needed to reach systemic toxicity if completely dissolved.

摘要： A method for producing ceramic components, includes providing a dispersing agent comprising at least one first and one second powder fraction of an oxide ceramic, and a third powder fraction of an inter-metallic compound mixed in a liquid. The first powder fraction comprises a nanoscale particle fraction with particle sizes ranging from about 2 nm to 200 nm and functions as a binder. The second powder fraction comprises a sintering additive. The share of the third powder fraction, relative to the sum of all powder fractions, has a volume share of between about 50% and about 95%. The method further includes forming a green body with aid of precipitation by electrophoresis from the mixture, the precipitation by electrophoresis of the powder fractions occurring simultaneously. The green body is then sintered in an oxidizing atmosphere to form a ceramic component.

摘要： Improved compositions comprising a mixture of particulate materials with water-based liquids containing water-soluble polymers and surfactants are provided. Examples of particulate powders include mixtures of calcium silicate, calcium aluminate, calcium sulfate, and hydroxyapatite. Examples of water-soluble polymers include polyvinyl alcohols, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl acetates, polyacrylic acid, and polymethacrylic acid. Surfactants such as sodium dodecyl sulfate are added to the composition to interact with the polymeric materials. The compositions are particularly suitable for sealing and obturating dental root canals and root apices. The composition provides a stable barrier to bacterial and fluid leakage in the root canal system of a tooth. In addition, the compositions help promote the growth of new bone and tissue surrounding the root-tip area or dentin tissue that covers an injured or amputated pulp.
