摘要： Disclosed is septum arrangement having a pierceable septum. The pierceable septum has first and second surfaces positioned opposite to one another and a peripheral surface. A compression element has at least two compression members that partially or fully surround the peripheral surface and has at least two gripping members. Each compression member is connected to at least one gripping member, and the gripping members extend from the compression members towards a common axis (A) which intersects the first surface. A resilient element exerts a biasing force on the pierceable septum that is directed towards the common axis (A). The gripping members define an aperture between them such that introduction of a needle into the aperture exerts a force on the gripping members that counteracts the biasing force and moves the gripping members apart from each other.

摘要： A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, a septum housing, and a septum. The catheter adapter may include a distal end, a proximal end, an inner wall extending between the distal end and the proximal end, and a lumen formed by the inner wall. The septum housing may include one or more protrusions and may be secured to the inner wall by one or more of the following: an interference fit between the one or more protrusions and the inner wall, a snap fit between the one or more protrusions and the inner wall, and bonding between the one or more protrusions and the inner wall. The septum may be at least partially disposed within the septum housing and configured to at least substantially seal the lumen.

摘要： An infusion set system includes a base and a fluid connector removably coupleable thereto. The fluid connector includes a fluid path portion and at least one connector latch displaceably connected to the fluid path portion and displaceable to a latching position in which at least a portion of the connector latch extends into the fluid path portion, which includes a cannula extending from a top interior surface thereof, and a plurality of internal sidewalls corresponding to at least two of a plurality of flat side surfaces of at least one of a base section and a base latch, thereby facilitating connection between the base and the fluid connector in a plurality of discrete rotational connecting positions. When the fluid connector is locked to the base, the at least one connector latch engages a base latching portion of the base and restricts proximal displacement of the fluid connector.

Implementations of the present invention include a compact, molded septum that is retained within an inner lumen of a catheter adapter such that slowed or stopped flow of air and/or a fluid is permitted to pass between the compact septum and an inner wall surface of the catheter adapter via one or more fluid pathways. In some instances, a snap ring is provided to secure the position of the compact septum within the catheter adapter, a fluid pathway being provided through the snap ring.

摘要： The present invention extends to a disinfection cap for disinfecting a male luer end of an infusion therapy device. The disinfection cap can include an internal reservoir containing an antimicrobial or saline solution which is sealed with a flexible septum to prevent the solution from evaporating. The septum can include one or more slits or pierceable seams that allow a male luer end of an infusion therapy device to be inserted through the septum and into the solution. While the male luer is inserted through the septum, the solution contacts both the inner and outer surfaces of the male luer. Because the septum reduces evaporation of the solution and prevents the solution from leaking out of the cap, the solution remains in contact with the male luer for a longer duration then when typical disinfection caps are used thereby increasing the effectiveness of the disinfectant.

The blood sampling device has a tube that is longer than a length of the septum activator and has a width less than or equal to a width of the inner passage of the septum activator. An interior of the tube is in fluid communication with a reservoir within the blood sampling device. A vent is in fluid communication with the reservoir. The vent passes air but not blood therethrough.
