摘要： In a cooled axial/radial flow converter, in which process gas passes from an outer annulus via a catalyst bed to an inner centre tube, the catalyst bed is divided into identical modules stacked on top of each other. The process gas reaches the catalyst through openings facing the outer annulus, passes axially down the catalyst bed of each module, leaves the module through collectors in the bottom thereof, and flows to the centre tube. The catalyst bed is cooled by cooling panels, in which the process gas is pre-heated to the reaction temperature, while at the same time the heat of reaction is partly removed from the catalyst bed. The converter is especially suitable as ammonia converter.

摘要： A method of oxidatively dehydrogenating a dehydrogenation reactant includes providing a first gaseous feed stream to a first adiabatic, catalytic reaction zone with less than a stoichiometric amount of oxygen and superheated steam, oxidatively dehydrogenating dehydrogenation reactant in said first adiabatic, catalytic reaction zone and subsequently cooling the effluent, adding additional oxygen and reacting the effluent stream in at least one subsequent adiabatic reaction zone. The dehydrogenation system enables higher conversion and yield per pass and in some cases greatly reduces steam usage and energy costs. In a preferred integrated process, ethylene is converted to n-butene which is then oxidatively dehydrogenated to butadiene.

摘要： A procedure for shutting down a dehydrogenation reactor having a catalyst bed with a chromium-containing catalyst operating at a first elevated temperature comprises cooling the catalyst bed with a first cooling gas to a second elevated temperature lower than the first elevated temperature, removing the first cooling gas, introducing a reducing gas to the catalyst bed, cooling the catalyst bed with a second cooling gas from the second elevated temperature to a third elevated temperature, removing the reducing gas, cooling the catalyst bed to a fourth elevated temperature, and introducing air to cool the catalyst to ambient temperature, whereby the dehydrogenation reactor is shut down. The second cooling gas may be the same as, or different from, the reducing gas. Moreover, the reducing gas may be purged from the reactor by a third cooling gas.

摘要： A shift conversion catalyst layer is divided into at least two front and back stages. A first catalyst and a second catalyst are provided on the upstream side and the downstream side, respectively. The first catalyst has a property that a carbon monoxide conversion rate decreases with an increase in carbon dioxide concentration in a supplied reaction gas at a constant carbon monoxide concentration in the supplied reaction gas and a constant reaction temperature. The first catalyst is combined with the second catalyst such that the degree of decrease in carbon monoxide conversion rate with respect to an increase in carbon dioxide concentration in the supplied reaction gas in the second catalyst is lower than that in the first catalyst. Whereby, the conversion rate of a carbon monoxide concentration of a carbon monoxide shift conversion apparatus can be improved without increasing the used amount of a shift conversion catalyst.

摘要： The present invention provides a process for the preparation of ethene by vapour phase chemical dehydration of ethanol using an adiabatic reactor, wherein the interior of the adiabatic reactor is separated into at least three reaction zones, comprising a first reaction zone, at least one intermediate reaction zone and a final reaction zone, and wherein each zone contains an ethanol dehydration catalyst; said process comprising the steps of; a) feeding a pre-heated reactant feed-stream into an inlet of the first reaction zone; b) extracting an effluent-stream from an outlet of the first reaction zone; c) feeding said effluent-stream into an inlet of a subsequent intermediate reaction zone; d) extracting an effluent-stream from an outlet of the intermediate reaction zone; e) repeating steps (c) and (d) for any subsequent intermediate reaction zones, if present; f) feeding, into an inlet of the final reaction zone, the effluent-stream from the preceding intermediate reaction zone; g) extracting a product stream from an outlet of the final reaction zone; wherein the effluent-streams are re-heated prior to being fed into a subsequent reaction zone by means of one or more heat exchangers and; and wherein a single heat exchanger simultaneously re-heats at least two of the effluent-streams, such that no more than one heat exchanger is present for every two effluent-streams being re-heated in the process.
