摘要： A molded pinion includes separate gear portions with gear teeth, and gearless shaft portions provided between the adjacent gear portions. The shaft portions have an outer diameter smaller than the dedendum of the gear teeth of the gear portions. Each shaft portion has an axial length longer than an axial length of each gear portion. Disclosures are also directed to a molding die assembly including first split dies which are movable in radial directions to form the gear portions of the pinion, and second split dies which are movable in radial directions independently of the first split dies to form the shaft portions, and a molding method using the molding die assembly.

摘要： A method for making a non-metallic, fiber reinforced wheel for an in-line skate and similar rolling articles. Resin impregnated carbon fibers are compression molded to form a high strength and very stiff (i.e. rigid) annular hub having a central channel extending longitudinally therethrough to accommodate an axle. Bearing cavities are formed at opposite ends of the central channel in which to receive and retain respective axle bearings. A hollow air pocket is established so as to extend around and through the interior of the hub in order to occupy a majority of the volume of the hut) and thereby reduce the overall weight of the wheel. A scalloped wheel retaining rim is formed around the circumference of the hub to which an outer urethane tire is bonded to enable the wheel to roll along a flat surface.

摘要： A molded wheel design may incorporate identical halves and a shear bond to allow efficient manufacturing and assembly. The wheel design which may be applied in a host of different applications including a bicycle wheel where demanding loads exist in normal use. Integral bearings, foam tire adaptations, symmetrically opposite designs, and compression bonding techniques are described. A host of bonding techniques including the use of electromagnetically active material are accommodated by the designs. Spacers in the vicinity of the hub portion and semicircular boundaries so as to define a valve stem hole after assembly can be included.
