摘要： A method for producing an electrically conductive thin film on a substrate is disclosed. Initially, a reducible metal compound and a reducing agent are dispersed in a liquid. The dispersion is then deposited on a substrate as a thin film. The thin film along with the substrate is subsequently exposed to a pulsed electromagnetic emission to chemically react with the reducible metal compound and the reducing agent such that the thin film becomes electrically conductive.

摘要： The present invention is drawn to a method of treating silica in an aqueous environment. The method can comprise steps of dispersing silica particulates in an aqueous environment to form an aqueous dispersion; reversing the net charge of a surface of the silica particulates from negative to positive using a surface activating agent, thereby forming surface-activated silica particulates dispersed in the water; and contacting the surface-activated silica particulates with organosilane reagents to form reagent-modified and surface-activated silica particulates.

摘要： The present invention relates to an image forming method which includes: curing an active ray curable ink containing a gelling agent; and additionally applying and curing another active ray curable ink and by which affinity of the additionally-applied ink is further improved. The method of the present invention is an image forming method including: a first step of applying a first ink, which contains a colorant, a gelling agent, a photopolymerizable compound, and a photoinitiator, to a recording medium; a second step of irradiating the first ink with an active ray to cure and fix the first ink; a third step of additionally applying a second ink which contains a photopolymerizable compound and a photoinitiator; and a fourth step of irradiating the second ink with an active ray, in this order, wherein the first ink contains 0.5 to 5.0% by mass of the gelling agent with respect to the entire mass of the ink, the second ink contains less than 5.0% by mass of the gelling agent with respect to the entire mass of the ink, and the fourth step is performed in a state where the cured and fixed first ink is heated.

摘要： A printed article is disclosed having a light transmissive substrate having a reverse printed region on a surface thereof in the form of a plurality of very closely spaced printed lines or regions. The printed regions and spaces therebetween are subsequently flood coated with special effect ink such as optically variable ink wherein the ink particle size is on average greater than the gap between reverse printed regions. The image is viewed from the non-printed side of the substrate and very fine lines of the special effect flood coated special effect ink appear as very clear sharp lines having a fine resolution. This eliminates the typical jagged edges that would otherwise be seen if the inked region was not present. This effect is due to the first printed inked regions or lines forming a mask through which the flood coated ink is seen.
