    • Respective movements and positions of traffic participants arranged within a monitoring range surrounding a motor vehicle are captured on the front side, on the rear side, and/or laterally, by several sensors of the motor vehicle. One characteristic value per traffic participant is established which quantifies a collision probability of the motor vehicle with the respective traffic participants in dependency on the captured movements and positions of the traffic participants and the movement and position of the motor vehicle. At least one warning message is issued with respect to the traffic participants, for which the established characteristic values reach a predetermined collision probability value, wherein the warning message is signaled in which direction of the motor vehicle the respective collisions are impending.

    • A parking assist system for a vehicle includes a camera and a display operable to display video images of an exterior scene derived from image data captured by the camera. A controller, when operating in a first or parking space locator mode, adds an overlay to the displayed video images. The overlay includes (i) a polygonal representation of the vehicle and (ii) a linear overlay extending along one side of the polygonal representation of the vehicle. The polygonal representation is offset behind and laterally from the vehicle. The controller is operable in the first mode while the vehicle is being driven by a driver of the vehicle and, with the overlay added to displayed video images, the driver maneuvers the vehicle to position the polygonal representation at a displayed target parking location. The linear overlay assists the driver in parking the vehicle at the target parking location.

    • In a structure, which securely attaches a component to an opening portion in a plate-shaped member without stripping or turning over the plate-shaped member, each of a pair of mount members includes a first engagement portion engaged with a rear surface side of the plate-shaped member and a second engagement portion engaged with the component. The component includes projecting portions to be fitted between the mount members to enable fixing against coming off by engagement of the second engagement portion and the component. The projecting portions inhibit the mount members from moving so as not to come off the opening portion. Since the second engagement portion is formed from the multiple step portions engageable with the component, engagement with the component may be done even if plate thickness of the plate-shaped member varies, enabling fixing without backlash and improving versatility to the plate-shaped member having different plate thickness.
