    • A railroad crossing gate height adjustment assembly and method for reestablishing a height of the crossing gate of a railroad crossing gate apparatus. An elongated externally threaded pipe has a reducer threadably engageable at a lower, smaller end thereof onto, and is adjustably positionable along a length of the threaded pipe. A larger, upper end of the reducer is threadably lockable with a coupling previously secured at a lower end of a wiring conduit of the gate apparatus whereby the length of the wiring conduit is adjustably increased by an exposed length of the threaded pipe. A bushing having an external thread is lockably engageable onto a top surface of a gate base of the gate apparatus after the coupling and connected wiring conduit are removed, the bushing also having an external thread thereon for supportively receiving a lower end of the threaded pipe.

    • A railroad crossing gate assembly includes a gate arm adapter, which is pivotally mounted to allow a lowered gate arm to rotate in response to a generally perpendicular force in a generally horizontal plane either toward or away from a railroad crossing. The gate arm mechanism further includes multiple interchangeable spring assemblies that generate a return force to bring a displaced gate arm back to its normal operating position, and at least two latch hook assemblies for selectively latching the gate arm in its normal position and controlling the rate of return of the gate arm from a displaced position through application of a pivotally leveraged force to a braking surface of the adapter.

    • A railway crossing guard includes a pivotable crossing gate and a set of retractable barriers on the same side of a set of railroad tracks. The pivotable crossing gate is mounted adjacent a first traffic lane to move between a lowered position and a raised position, and the retractable barriers are mounted in a line oriented parallel to the traffic lanes on a median strip between first and second traffic lanes. These retractable barriers move between a retracted position, in which the retractable barriers are substantially flush with the roadway, and an extended position, in which the retractable barriers are raised above the roadway. In the extended position, the retractable barriers are positioned to block a vehicle in front of the lowered crossing gate from crossing the median strip to drive around the lowered crossing gate.
