摘要： An electronically controlled grade crossing gate system and method. The system includes a gate arm, a gate arm moving assembly, a position sensor assembly and a controller. The gate arm moving assembly is configured to move the gate arm and the position sensor assembly is configured to sense a position of the gate arm. The position sensor assembly is a non-contact position sensor assembly. The controller is coupled to the gate arm moving assembly and the position sensor assembly and it is configured to receive an incoming command related to the gate arm. The controller activates the gate arm moving assembly in response to the incoming command and communicates with the position sensor assembly to monitor the position of the gate arm.

摘要： A heavy duty ground retractable automobile barrier for a railroad crossing. Concrete bunkers are placed at each side of a roadway. An upstanding concrete-filled steel pipe fixed in each bunker has a sleeve for rotational and axial movement. Shock absorbers are mounted on each sleeve. A net extends across the road and is attached to the opposite ends of the shock absorbers. Collision of an automobile with the net creates tensile forces in the net. The shock absorbers expand while rotating about the pipe's axis in response to tensile forces from the net that meet or exceed a minimum threshold. Forces from the net pass through the axis of the steel pipe. The net is stored in a pit transverse the roadway parallel to the railroad tracks and is raised and lowered as appropriate. The net includes a cable that extends across the road in a wave pattern, having peaks, valleys and midpoints, wherein tangents of the wave midpoints are at least 90 degrees from tangents of the peaks and valleys.

摘要： This disclosure relates to a railroad-highway crossing gate and signal arrangement having an elongated aluminum gate arm movable between a vertical clear position and a horizontal traffic blocking position. The elongated aluminum gate arm is attached by a breakaway connector to a gate arm bracket which is connected to one end of a pair of gate arm support members. A pair of adjustable counterweights are securely attached to the other end of the gate arm support members. A power operating mechanism including a permanent magnet d.c. motor and a gear train rotatably drives an output shaft which has its respective ends attached to the pair of gate arm support members for moving the aluminum gate arm between its horizontal and vertical positions. The d.c. motor is provided with at least one shaft extension portion for receiving ratchet wrenches for manually moving the gate between its clear and blocking positions and for receiving a torque measuring device for determining the torque that is required to lift the gate arm from its horizontal position to its vertical position and for establishing torque that freely moves the gate arm from its vertical position toward its horizontal position.

摘要： A crossing gate mechanism includes a swingable gate arm, a rotatable gate arm shaft fixed to the gate arm, and an electronic sensor assembly coupled to the gate arm shaft. Rotation of the gate arm shaft corresponds with swinging of the gate arm. The electronic sensor assembly senses an angular position of the gate arm shaft and transmits a position signal corresponding thereto. The electronic sensor assembly includes a driving element that is attached to the gate arm shaft to rotate therewith. the electronic sensor assembly also includes a driven element that is driven by the driving element such that rotation of the gate arm shaft causes the driven element to rotate. The electronic sensor assembly is configured to generate the position signal based on a position of the gate arm shaft.
