摘要： Xenon or xenon-containing gases and, where appropriate, an NO source are employed as medicament for cerebral protection. Cerebral protection is defined as reducing or preventing impairments of cerebral function of various causes, but especially secondary to perfusion impairments of unclear etiology. The medicament can be used for cerebral protection for the prophylaxis of impairments of cerebral perfusion and for therapy after cerebral disorders have occurred, irrespective of the cause (e.g. cognitive, sensory or motor in nature).

摘要： A process for preparing artificial bone is described which comprises: (i) preparing a mixture of a finely divided bio-compatible ceramic powder, an organic binder and a pore-forming agent in an inert liquid to form a body and causing at least some of the pore-forming agent to align along a common axis; (ii) optionally shaping the resulting body; (iii) allowing the pore-forming agent to form a porous structure in the body; (iv) heating the shaped body to a temperature sufficient to fix the porous structure and; (v) further heating the body to eliminate residues of organic binder and pore-forming agent and to fuse it.

摘要： An improvement is provided in a process and apparatus for in-line slush making, for use in, for example, concrete cooling. The improvement comprises connecting the inlet used to convey liquid such as water to the manifold section of the lance so that its longitudinal axis forms an acute angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the inlet for introducing a cryogen into the lance. This improvement substantially eliminates failure to properly make slush due to a build-up of ice within the means used to control the flow of cryogen to the system. Additional improvements to the apparatus comprise substantially aligning the sealed head of the manifold with the longitudinal axis of the inlet for conveying the liquid to the lance to eliminate and to prevent freeze-up of the liquid in the dead space found in the "T" lance design of the prior art.
