    • In a method of corrosion protection of rebar in concrete the sacrificial anode is held in place by wrapping a first wire around a first rebar portion and a second wire at second rebar portion and twisting together the first and second free ends to tension the wrappings. This can be used either on two separate rebars which are parallel or at right angles or can be used at longitudinally spaced positions on a single rebar where the rebar roughening prevents the two wrappings from sliding as the wires are tensioned by the twisting. In many cases a covering material such as a porous mortar is cast onto the outer surface of the anode and in this case the mortar and the wire are located such that the wire exits from the sacrificial anode at a position separate from the layer of covering material.

    • An electrical connector for an anode has a terminal for an electric cable, at least two magnet devices for attracting the connector onto a metal structure, a plate electrically connecting the magnet devices to one another and to the terminal, and a deformable member connecting the magnet devices. When the connector connects an anode to a surface, the magnet forces draw the magnet devices against the surface in order to make up the connection. The deformable member allows relative movement of the magnet devices, permitting them to align themselves in an optimum configuration to maximize the surface area of the magnet devices that are in contact with the metal structure, providing a large electrical conduit between the connector and the cable connected to the terminal, and allowing for more reliable electrical connection between the anode and the structure.

    • An anode is mounted to the top of a water heater tank which has a spud with external threads welded to the top thereof. The spud extends above insulation which surrounds the water tank and covers the top of the water heater. An anode rod is inserted into the water tank through the spud and has a steel core welded to a flat cylindrical steel disk which extends radially outwardly of a magnesium cylinder formed about the core. A water sealing gasket is positioned between the disk and the annular surface formed by the open end of the spud. A nut fits over the disk and engages the threads on the spud, and clamps the anode to the spud so that the threads are isolated from water in the tank, allowing easy removal of the anode after the passage of time.
