摘要： In a method for cathodically protecting and/or passivating a metal section in an ionically conductive material such as steel reinforcement in concrete or mortar, an impressed current or sacrificial anode communicates ionic current to the metal section and a storage component of electrical energy which can be a cell, battery or capacitor is provided as a component of the anode. A current limiter is provided which prevents excess current draining the supply. This can be a semi-conductive device such as a transistor or diode is connected in the path from the anode to the metal section to limit the cathodic protection current to a value of the order of 1 milliamp. When a diode or similar device is used the current can be limited to the reverse leakage current of the diode.

摘要： A cathodic protection system includes a vessel for containing a fluid or a mixture of fluids, a plurality of anodes positioned inside the vessel, an encapsulant encapsulating the plurality of anodes, the encapsulant being a wax repellant material that is sufficiently porous to allow ions to pass therethrough, and an impressed current source electrically connected to each of the anodes and the vessel. The impressed current source produces a continuous high current output, and the vessel acts as a cathode when current is applied from the impressed current source. The anodes are monitored and controlled from outside of the vessel using one or more adjustable resistors, which are installed in a junction box located either inside or outside the vessel. The resistors are configured to adjust the individual anode current output based upon a predetermined cathodic protection criteria.

摘要： An arrangement is provided for anti-fouling of a surface (30) of a marine structure (50) when in contact a liquid like seawater. The arrangement has floating electrodes and a power source (130) coupled to conductors in contact with the liquid, which conductors are distributed across the marine structure for providing an electrical potential across a protected area (40) of the surface. The floating electrodes (110) are arranged on the surface covering a protected area. Each floating electrode has a conductive layer being electrically isolated from the surface, and a dielectric layer (112) separating the conductive layer and the liquid. The power source is arranged to generate voltage pulses for charging and discharging the floating electrodes due to changes in the electrical potential for generating charging and discharging currents in the liquid at the dielectric layer. Effectively, such currents prevent or at least reduce biofouling.

摘要： Sacrificial anodes for installing in an ionically conductive medium at an installation site containing metal requiring cathodic protection are formed by locating anode cores in a tray having dividing members defining a row of side by side chambers with each chamber containing a respective one of the anode cores and casting into the receptacle a covering mortar for the anode cores with each anode core receiving a coating at least partly surrounding the anode core with the connecting wire exposed. The mortar is cast to form frangible bridges between each anode and the next. The trays are stacked and transported to the site where the installer separates and individually installs the anodes into the medium.

摘要： A cathodic protection system is provided for a subterranean well casing having an enclosed upper section of the well casing being substantially shielded by a cellar from an impressed-current cathodic protection circuit passing through earth media. The impressed-current cathodic protection circuit is provided to protect an unenclosed lower section of the well casing. To protect the enclosed upper section of the well casing, a supplemental cathodic protection circuit is provided. The supplemental cathodic protection circuit is a galvanic anode cathodic protection circuit comprising the enclosed upper section of the well casing and one or more bracelet galvanic anodes being circumferentially mounted to the enclosed upper section. The enclosed upper section of the well casing and the one or more bracelet galvanic anodes are substantially surrounded by a cellar backfill, and the galvanic anode cathodic protection circuit is equally effective throughout a broad range of non-homogeneity within the cellar backfill.

摘要： This invention is a device that provides a multi use cathodic protection system for steel and reinforced concrete and method of use that will permit a user to more easily and accurately place an impressed current cathodic protection system, a sacrificial or galvanic anode cathodic protection system, or combination thereof around a reinforced structure to be protected and thereafter fill with concrete by use of a uniquely engineered fiberglass reinforced plastic form. This invention once put in place around the structure being protected can more easily be filled with concrete without having the attached titanium mesh or zinc anode mesh bend or move outside of the effective proximity from the protected structure. The fiberglass reinforced plastic form has a corrugated or roughed surface that provides an increased surface area to bind or grip the fiberglass reinforced plastic form to the poured concrete once cured.
