摘要： The present invention relates to a crystal fiber, and more particularly to a Ti: sapphire crystal fiber, a manufacturing method thereof, and a wide band light source with the same. The Ti: sapphire single crystal is grown by means of laser-heated pedestal growth (LHPG) method into a crystal fiber of a predetermined diameter. The as-grown crystal fiber is annealed for enhancing its fluorescence and reducing the infra-red residual absorption. The annealed crystal fiber is inserted into a glass capillary and is grown into a single-clad crystal fiber. The wide band light source comprises: a pumping source for providing a pumping light; a single-clad Ti: sapphire crystal fiber for absorbing the pumping light and emitting the wide band light.

摘要： A method for manufacturing an optical fiber includes melting an end of a crystal material and drawing the molten end of the crystal material to form a crystal filament. Conductive paint is coated on two surface sections of the crystal filament to form internal positive and negative electrodes not electrically connected to each other. The crystal filament is placed into a heat resistant tube that is heated until an outer layer of the crystal filament melts and adheres to an inner periphery of the heat resistant tube, with a center of the crystal filament remaining as a solid core. Conductive paint is adhered to two ends of the crystal filament to form external positive and negative electrodes electrically connected to the internal positive and negative electrodes, respectively. The optical fiber thus formed can serve as a photoelectric optical fiber for transmission of current signals.

摘要： A method and apparatus for producing crystalline ribbons of a material from a "crucible-less" configuration of bodies of the material including possible deposition on a substrate. Means for coupling electromagnetic energy into a source body of material are provided to appropriately induce electrical currents in order to control and restrict the molten zone and suppress net loss of the heat of fusion from the balance of the ribbon-like body. The melt zone is replenished to sustain the shape and size of the growing ribbon-like body. The heat of crystallization is selectively removed by a heat absorbing means from one end of the melt zone in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of pulling.
