摘要： A variable ratio transmission having an infinitely variable ratio, for enabling a tidal turbine (10) or the like running at relatively low but continuously varying speeds, to drive smoothly a constant speed machine, such as a synchronous generator or the like, without excessive transient torques. A preferred transmission includes a primary differential gear train (120), having a driven input (50), and a driving output, wherein the ratio of the input speed to output speed is variable, and wherein said ratio is governed by the reaction torque provided by speed controlling gearing (150) within the primary differential (120), the transmission including a secondary differential gear train (220), which is in rotational communication with the input (50) via a first route (115), and is in rotational communication with the speed controlling gearing (150) via a second different route (125), wherein the secondary differential gear train includes two parallel power paths.

摘要： The invention relates to a wind energy plant comprising a rotor having a rotor hub which is mounted on a gondola and a plurality of rotor blades. An electric generator is connected to the rotor. The invention also relates to an electric drive device which is designed as a direct drive and used to adjust a rotor blade which is arranged in a concentric manner on the rotor hub in relation to rotor blade bearing and a permanently excited synchronous motor. A stator of the synchronous motor comprises a coil body which is mounted on the motor hub. A rotor of the synchronous motor is arranged at an axial distance with respect to the stator for forming an axially extending air gap. Said rotor also comprises a permanent magnet arrangement on a support plate which is connected to a rotor blade shaft.

摘要： A power generation system is disclosed for supplying power to an electrical grid. The system comprises a synchronous machine and coupling means for coupling the synchronous machine to a prime mover. Control means are provided to control the system such that the system is selectively operable in two modes. In the first mode, the synchronous machine is coupled to the prime mover and acts as a synchronous generator to supply power to the grid. In the second mode the synchronous machine is decoupled from the prime mover and acts as a synchronous condenser. This can allow parameters of the grid, such as power factor and voltage, to be adjusted.
